Summary of Position:

The Forman, Chemical is a subject matter expert and program manager over production, drilling, and completions chemical programs. This role manages chemical suppliers and associated work crews; with a focus on quality assurance for product selection, dosing, scheduling and invoicing. The chemical specialist participates in engineering design of new facilities for inclusion of monitoring points, chemical distribution equipment, and tubing; collaborating with 3rd party owned and operated systems.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and assesses value of similar chemicals under different trade names. Follows feedstock commodity prices to negotiate fair market value pricing or to manage expectations in regards to budget increases.

  • Writes testing programs, specifies analytical testing for lab analysis, manages data, and prepares and presents summary reports of recommendation or next steps.

  • Manages LOE budget for production chemicals, developing annual targets, monthly spend profiles, and accruals. Tracks spend to CAPEX projects with drilling and completions, providing spend accruals.

  • Participates in physical inspections of materials prior to and after service.

  • Assesses new chemicals for constituent compatibility with installed materials.

  • Seeks new technologies for chemical treatment, delivery, and alternative mitigation.

  • Ensures all crew members and contractors complete work in accordance with the Company's established construction standards and practices; addressing safety concerns within the workgroup. This includes JSAs, safety audits, and safety processes/programs.

  • Ensures that safety regarding all maintenance activities and personnel, above all else. This includes but it not limited to proper use of LOTO, de-pressurization, elevated work, both hot and cold work environments and proper use of PPE, etc.

  • Provides management updates with a high-level focus on value and risk associated with weekly activity.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge of O&G operations, organization procedures, and personnel.

  • Strong technical knowledge in typical treatment protocols; specific to corrosion, H2S, and paraffin.

  • Proficient in analytical analysis, data gathering, and testing.

  • Environmental and Safety knowledge and training; a leader in safety culture.

  • Highly adaptable to change with ability to multi-task and shift priorities to manage expectations.

  • Sound independent judgment, critical thinking skills and problem-solving ability.

  • Ability to perform tasks following an organized and systematic method.

  • Strong attention to detail, organized, and deadline oriented.

  • Advanced with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Advanced Excel user; pivot tables, sumif formulas, etc.

  • Consistently demonstrates professional demeanor.

  • Committed to continuous improvement and development of individual knowledge and skills.

  • Maintains and demonstrates a positive attitude.

  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively.

  • An ability to develop other staff members within area of responsibility.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Builds, supervises, and manages teams of chemical technicians.

  • Responsible for setting expectations and building training as necessary for new and existing employees to develop skill sets.

  • Expected to lead and teach by example, when necessary, on location and in the field.

  • Manages their departments efficiently and in accordance with departmental goals.

  • Provides performance feedback and completes evaluations that are timely and constructive.

  • With the assistance of HR and the department head, handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

Education & Experience:

  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or chemistry, preferred.

  • 10 years of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Travel Requirements:

  • Work is performed at a CIVI location Tues-Thurs with an option to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.

  • Schedule: traditional 40-hour workweek or alternative schedule of 9 hour works days M-Thurs and 4-hour workdays Friday.

  • Travel required to the Civitas field locations.
