Foreign Language Instructors/Tutors (Full-time and Part-Time) to provide live environment or virtual distance learning of foreign languages, regional expertise, and cultural instruction supporting the LREC program in the US and abroad.
Arabic (Iraqi and MSA), Chinese-Mandarin, Dari, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Pashto, Persian-Farsi, Polish, Portuguese-Brazilian, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Tagalog, and Urdu.
Specific duties may include, but are not limited to:
Provide instruction supporting listening, reading, writing, with emphasis on speaking skills, as well as regional and culture subjects, using modern communicative and learner-centered teaching methodology.
Provide supportive instruction or tutoring to improve foreign language students proficiency skills across the modalities of listening, reading, and speaking (L/R/S) as measured by the Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT), ACTFL or Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI).
Provide live and dynamic instruction on regional and culture subjects, using modern communicative, learner-centered, and blended-teaching methodologies.
Execute planned POI and tutoring sessions.
Teach language curriculum based on designated POI.
Develop lesson plans or other learning material, as required.
Possess the ability to assess, develop a lesson plan, and deliver instruction based on student interest and levels varying from ILR 0+ to 3,
Review, correct, and grade assignments, discuss and provide feedback.
Maintain a positive and professional live or virtual learning environment, maintaining a healthy classroom management and record keeping.
Integrate technology in the classroom and in homework assignments using resources such as Smart Boards, BlackBoard, RapidRote, and SharePoint, the Internet, iPads, Tablet PCs, or other state of the art devices provided by the Government.
Possess good computer skills to organize data and teaching materials.
Familiar with Transparent Language CL-150 and Special Operations Forces Teletraining system (SOFTS) and its integration into assignments.
Education and Experience: Min. High School, completed Pre-Service Training
English Language Qualifications:
Minimum ILR level 2 as measured by DoD approved testing facilities
At least a proficiency level 2 or Advanced-Low (ACTFL) on an OPI.
A score of 553 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) PBT, or TOEFL iBT score as
follows: 83 minimum overall and at least 20 each in Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing.
A score of no less than 82 on the English Comprehension Level (ECL) test.
Target Language Qualifications:
Proficiency will be demonstrated by one of the following:
Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) or 2-skill OPI from the DLIFLC.
An interview certified by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).
Defense Language Proficiency Test.
Security Clearance: Secret if required by security classification guidance
Location: multiple CONUS/OCONUS Service Schoolhouses and Unit Training Facilities.
Travel: Some travel may be required
