You will help our business react to changing business conditions with excellent data analysis. You will define the requirements, perform the analysis and identify patterns in large amounts of data.

How you will contribute

You will:

  • Define requirements for analysis in a given business area and perform detailed analysis and identify trends defined in the requirements

  • Identify patterns and help the business react to changing business conditions

  • Perform root-cause analysis and interpret data

  • Work with large amounts of data such as facts, figures, and mathematics/formulas and undertake analytical activities and delivers analysis outputs in accordance with customer needs and conforming to established standards

  • Understand and be involved with aspects of the data science process

  • As the investigator on the data science team, you will apply your knowledge of languages and pull data out of SQL databases, using Tableau/Power BI type tools, and producing basic data visualizations and reporting dashboards

  • Develop key performance indicators and create visualizations of the data

  • Strong business acumen of planning function within CPG industry. Retail industry experience also could be considered.

  • Understand key responsibilities and challenges of demand planning in the USA market especially in the consumer goods (B2B and B2C) industry

  • Previous experience of demand forecasting or closely working with demand planning team

  • Any hands-on experience in generating forecasting will be an added advantage

  • Playing with numbers with excellent hold on excel and powerpoint.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Power Point, familiarity with data visualization software such as Power BI, Tableau, SAP BI and basic exposure to advance analytics / statistical software (such as SAS) and it's way of work.

  • Moderate knowledge in math and statistical skills and preliminary understanding of how statistical modelling works

  • Utilize business intelligence and analytics tool to tell the story and explain business outcome

  • Co-ordinating and collaborating with multiple stakeholders with a globally distributed role

What you need to know about this position:

  • The Forecasting Business Analyst will be responsible for forecasting accuracy and bias

  • They will be suitably supported by advanced forecasting specialist team to generate better forecasting results

  • Explain and share insight generated by stat and machine learning based forecast models, by considering SKU demand behavior using market understanding, category behavior and segmentation strategy

  • Collaborate with Demand Planners to identify right drivers and lever which influences demand and thus incorporate in statistical forecasting process to improve forecast error and bias metrics

  • Support the internal data science team in bringing back insight from demand planning team.

  • Keep close liaison with external implementation partner to get transitioned internal process

  • Monitoring and reviewing forecast performance weekly / monthly using Forecast Value Add report

  • Analyze the model performance every month / week (Where accuracy is deteriorating etc) and post process the output

  • Propose additional data elements which we data science team can consume and develop / fine tune models

  • Own segmentation analysis as per defined frequency and collaborate with the data science team

  • Collaborating with the Planning Insights & Development team to develop & analyzing baseline forecast exception reports

  • Interface between the Demand Planners & SAS Technical expert team (backend) to resolve outliers, missing forecast etc with agility

  • Root cause analysis for monthly location level forecast accuracy results. Provide insights & recommendations to improve results

  • Identifying additional variables, gathering data & modelling to improve accuracy of baseline forecasts

  • Continuous improvement of the stat forecast with the capability to incorporate industry leading ideas and process into stat forecast

  • Business Interface for Inventory Optimization; Broad Supply Chain Expertise with understanding of Inventory settings in planning function. Bring business insights for better inventory modelling. Ability to understand business constraints, appreciate implications of Inventory and challenge planners to follow standard process for inventory optimization. The Inventory portion of the role will be supported by Modellers with analytics, root-cause & scenario planning for discussions with the business owners.

What extra ingredients you will bring:

  • Applied Knowledge of analytical techniques in with exposure to forecasting domain especially driver based forecasting

  • 4+ years experience on working with FMCG, Food & Beverages, Retail or similar industry data with understanding the business process will be advantage

  • Should be able to articulate data science outcome into business understandable language

  • Fluent English proficiency

Education / Certifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Master's in quantitative field of Statistics, Applied Mathematics or Engineering will be desirable

  • Certifications any of SAS Visual Statistics, Tableau etc will be desirable
