The forced failure competency leader will lead the development and harmonization of forced failure testing across Whirlpool labs globally. The position will be a part of the Global Safety & Regulatory team. This leader will work collaboratively across multiple functions to elevate our capability in executing projects that predict and validate field performance of our products.
Lead the development of forced failure laboratory capabilities globally - identify opportunities and drive implementation of standardized solutions for improving setup, execution and analysis.
Maintain integrity of, and drive consistent utilization of Whirlpool's forced failure knowledge base.
Drive development and maintenance of forced failure test procedures.
Lead forced failure research in support of product development and understanding fielded product events.
Understand failure modes, testing methodologies, and be able to interpret and apply results.
Support development of FF simulation tools to drive consistency on preliminary evaluations.
Educate team on methods used in forced failure testing, and effectively allocate and utilize resources.
Drive consistency in the interpretation of PS9 testing and results, provide expertise to continually evolve these practices and procedures.
Support development of emerging technologies through advanced and highly interpretive test & learn projects.
Advocate for inclusion of Whirlpool forced failure testing into public safety standards requirements.
Lead the Forced Failure certification process for the organization.
Campaign for funding needs for labs and infrastructure, to maintain program excellence.
Support resolution of field product safety incidents, and monitor effectiveness of corrective actions.
Support Global Product Safety Risk team in executing and continually improving the program.
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
Knowledge of product certification requirements such as UL (Underwriters Laboratories), IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), TUV (Technical Inspection Association), etc
Ability to collaborate with teams across business areas using problem-solving methodology.
Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and influence across a matrixed organization
Confidence and willingness to take calculated risks, implement new ideas, drive for results and sustain change.
