Position for San Ysidro Health's Internal Medicine Residency Program 2020. This position is posted for those applicants that are currently accepted into our program.
San Ysidro Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) whose mission is to provide high quality heatlh care to the underserved population of San Diego County. With predominantly low income patient populations, and clinic sites in Medically Underserved Areas (MUA), the clinic has continued to provide care for the poor, uninsured, immigrants, refugees, elderly, and those living with HIV/AIDS for 50 years.
As such, it is committed to having well educated primary care and subspecialty health care physicians to provide this care. As such, San Ysidro Health's internal medicine residency program therefore embodies the Clinic's mission to provide high quality care to its underserved population, by providing medical education in this unique community setting to the next generation ready to take on this mission and goal.
San Ysidro Health's internal medicine residency program will have two main goals. The main goal is to educate a diverse group of physicians with an interest in learning medicine in a primary care community setting serving this population.
The ultimate goal however is to graduate more Internal Medicine physicians interested in a primary care practice, and start a pipeline for Internal Medicine physicians to practice in community health centers, and settings where there is a need due to poor access. This will be achieved via a unique program that incorporates best/novel practices for primary care settings, and Internal Medicine programs including: Community primary care mode, Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) elevated with Share the Care, and providing intensive training in medical issues affecting these communities.
An emphasis on learning Quality Care initiatives for the health care of the community, improving practice models to achieve this, along with the need for team work in this setting, will be made. The residents will be given ample opportunities to participate in ongoing public health research available in the clinic setting, or to take on or participate in community, hospital, or clinic Quality Improvement projects of their own.
San Ysidro Health is a Federally Qualified Health Care organization committed to providing high quality, compassionate, accessible and affordable healthcare services for the entire family.
The organization was founded by seven women in search of medical services for their families and community. Almost 50 years later, San Ysidro Health now provides innovative care to over 92,000 patients through a vast and integrated network of 34 program sites across the county. San Ysidro Health could not serve our patients without the dedication of our passionate and hardworking employees.
