Foothills is seeking a Tai Chi for Health Instructor available for Thursday evenings from 6:15 to 7:05 p.m. This position is responsible for the design and implementation of tai chi classes and programs.

RATE: $22.50 per hour

Minimum Qualifications

  • Prior experience in instruction of Tai Chi is preferred.

  • Current specialty certification from an accepted national certifying organization and must be maintained through Continuing Education Credits (CEC's) as required.

  • Possession of current certifications in CPR/AED required.

  • First Aid certification preferred.

VIEW JOBS 8/23/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-11-21T00:00 Under the supervision of the Site Specialist or Site Director, this position is responsible for coordinating the daily operations of assigned classes. Plan, present and evaluate educational and recreational activities for children in a safe environment. This position will work directly with children and parents on a daily basis providing quality customer service. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Responsible for the care and safety of the children; ensuring that children are in a safe environment at all times (supervises area effectively). * Develop and instruct curriculum; prepare and/or implement lesson plans, monthly calendars, and newsletters; plan, teach and evaluate both long and short range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy. Engage in active and sedentary indoor and outdoor lessons, games and activities with the children both on-site and on field trips, and serves as a role model participant. * Asses the social, intellectual, emotional and physical needs and learning levels of children enrolled in the program. Monitor progress of each child. * Assist in daily set-up and delivery of program by organizing activities, snacks, restroom routines, playground supervision, pool supervision, and rest time; maintains a clean and orderly environment; safeguards program supplies and materials. * Use positive behavior reinforcement and developmentally-appropriate guidance techniques to encourage appropriate behavior, informs supervisor if assistance is needed with behavior management, provides documentation of inappropriate behavior. * Develop and actively maintain positive communication with parents, children, school and administrative staff. Provide information to parents concerning their children's development, abilities, and areas of concern; explains program procedures and classroom activities, and serves as a program liaison. * Complete and maintain children's files, reports, records, and other documents, and collect forms and information from parents/guardians as required by the program; maintain confidentiality of child and parent information. * Attend and participate in staff meetings, training's, and site events as requested. * Report incidents of suspected child abuse to proper authorities. * Attend work on a regular, reliable and punctual basis; subs for co-workers when available; is responsible for securing substitutes for shifts unable to work. Experience and Skills EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: * Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. * Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Psychology or Special Education. OR * Associate's degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education and six (6) months of verified experience working with children in a child development program. LICENSES, CERTIFICATES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS: * Must meet appropriate Group Leader requirements/qualifications and provide all documentation as required by the State of Colorado's Department of Human Services upon hire. * Possession of current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Universal Precautions. * Complete fifteen (15) hours training annually. * Satisfactory criminal background check including Colorado Bureau of Investigations and TRAILS/Central Registry criminal record review as required by the Colorado Department of Social Services within five (5) working days of employment. * Provide all documentation as required by the State of Colorado Child Care Licensing Division upon hire. MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED: * Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods and general office equipment (computer, copier, fax, phone, etc.). Proficiency with applicable computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). * Multiple manuals such as Children' Programs Policies and Procedures, Foothills Park & Recreation District procedures, and the Colorado Dept. of Human Services Division of Childcare Rules and Regulations. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 70% of work is performed indoors with normal office noise and frequent interruptions. 30% of work is performed outdoors with the exception of camps. When working outdoors, possible exposure to extreme temperatures, sun, rain, snow, wind, humid or icy conditions and frequent exposure to grasses, molds, fertilizers, dust and pesticides. Requires the ability to drive between various locations and occasionally transport supplies during the performance of the job duties. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with both children and adults. Must have ability to visually and audibly supervise children in a variety of situations. Requires the ability to stand for various periods of time (15 – 30 minutes), bend or kneel to communicate with children, engage in activities with children, and distribute supplies or materials. The ability to talk and hear via the telephone and through face-to-face communication is necessary. Must be able to push, pull or balance. Upper body strength is a requisite to lift/move a maximum of 30 pounds unassisted, and lift/move a maximum of 100 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include: near acuity, far acuity, depth perception and color vision. Requires sense of smell and touch. The position requires a current medical report which verifies that the employee is free from evidence of emotional, mental, or physical illness and free from evidence of personal conduct detrimental to the health, safety, or well being of children, self, or District personnel.
