Job Title: Food Waste Research Administrator
Job Description:
Job Summary
Working independently and under general direction, the Food Waste Research Administrator will provide project support for research and extension activities on a newly-funded effort to improve nutrition security through household food waste reduction.
This integrated research and extension project aims to take a grassroots, bottom-up approach to tackling food waste. Research activities will include conducting a baseline food waste assessment in 5-6 U.S. communities. Extension activities will focus on leveraging insights learned from research activities into actionable, culturally-appropriate strategies for reducing household food waste. Extension outputs will take a variety of forms; for example, an online resource hub, a podcast series, local and national food equity summits, and a social media campaign. The project emphasizes working with underserved communities and fostering youth engagement in research and extension activities to promote health equity and address food literacy gaps.

Manage the logistics of conducting a baseline food waste assessment in 5-6 communities across the U.S., including 1) managing IRB approvals across multiple sites; 2) recruiting and training data collectors for each site; 3) managing participant payments; and 4) troubleshooting issues as they arise during data collection in conjunction with local data collectors and site advisors
Organize local and national food equity summits as well as quarterly advisory board meetings
Lead development and dissemination of educational materials via website and social media, ensure that Extension and outreach efforts align with National Extension frameworks and assist in data management and grant reporting
What We're Looking For:
Master's degree in applied economics, nutrition, public health or a related field
3 years of experience in research project management
An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered (Bachelor's + 5 years of experience; Associate's + 7 years of experience; HS/GED + 9 years of experience)
Strong project-management skills; ability to multitask, prioritize, and plan next steps
Must demonstrate critical thinking, accuracy, time management skills, and proven ability to successfully follow-through on assigned projects
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated individual
Ability to work independently, contributing to team projects, with minimal supervision
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work and communicate with various individuals from a broad spectrum of disciplines and backgrounds
Strong, professional, and effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to adapt information to the appropriate audience and literacy level
Basic analytic skills
Ability to follow appropriate data management procedures, including maintaining privacy and confidentiality

Nice to Have:
1 year of experience working on community-based or community-led initiatives or interventions (research or extension)
Experience with developing Extension or educational materials and disseminating content through appropriate channels
