Position Summary

  • The Dietary Aide assists the Cook in the preparation and service of meals.

  • Utilizes protective gear in all appropriate functions

  • Places prepared food on plates/trays in accordance with tray tickets in line with our established policies and procedures, and, as may be directed by the Food Services Director/Manager or Cook, to ensure that quality food service is provided at all times.

  • Prepares and delivers food and trays, washes dishes and cleans and sanitizes kitchen according to health standards.

  • The Dietary Aide must be detail-oriented, well-groomed, act professionally and must be a team player who works well with others.

  • The Dietary Aide consistently embodies the characteristics necessary to drive the Company's Purpose, Vision, Values, and DNA.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Specialized training in foodservice is desirable. May be required to successfully complete an approved sanitation and safety course.

  • Ability to read, speak and understand English, follow directions and complete tasks.

  • Ability to follow time schedules for meal preparation and serving.

  • Maintains a neat, clean, well-groomed appearance.

  • Dependable, with experience working in facilities utilizing quantity food production methods.

  • General knowledge and understanding of nutrition.

  • Ability to read and accurately apply requirements of food tray cards.

  • Ability to maintain records and complete reports as required.

  • Written and oral communication skills.

  • Knowledge of quantity food production and serving techniques, food safety/sanitation requirements and procedures.

  • Ability to interact positively with residents, client and other personnel and the public.

  • Compliance with COVID-19 Vaccination Policies, as required by State, Local, and/or Customers.

  • Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 30 pounds, push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend and walk for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to work around food and cleaning products.

  • Must live in service area. No relocation costs.

The City of Superior is currently seeking applications for an Maintenance and Construction Worker in our Parks and Recreation Dept. Work Location:City Garage, 2301 Hill Avenue, Superior, WI Work Schedule:Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm (40 hours/week and as needed otherwise). Starting Salary:The starting salary range is approximately $51,501 - 54,350 based on level of education & experience as it relates to the qualifications. DEFINITION: Under general supervision, to perform a variety of semiskilled carpentry, metal fabrication, masonry, painting, plumbing and electrical work in the repair and maintenance of City buildings and equipment; and to do other work as required. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Building and Maintenance Worker is the journey level class. Incumbents perform a variety of semiskilled carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, welding and electrical tasks in the construction, remodel, repair and maintenance of City buildings and equipment. Employment Standards TYPICAL TASKS: * Performs rough and finish carpentry work in construction of structures, repairing and hanging doors, remodeling through construction of walls and ceilings, building window frames and making repairs to wooden fixtures and furniture. * Reads, interprets and constructs according to blueprints using common construction practices, to include establishing elevations. * Does minor electrical work such as installing simple wiring, replacing switches, sockets, wall plugs, floor receptacles, light bulbs or fluorescent fixtures, fuses and breakers. * Repairs or replaces leaky faucets, pipes, toilets, sinks and drains. * Performs routine maintenance on mechanical equipment such as greasing, oiling, and replacing worn or defective parts. * Constructs park structures, fixtures and fences, which may include basic welding and fabrication requirements. * Replaces broken windows. * Maintains workshop and shop equipment in good operating condition. * Performs concrete forming and finishing work. * Inspects facilities and equipment for safe and efficient operation, repairing as necessary. * Documents inspections and keeps records related to maintenance and construction activities. * May direct the work of staff assigned in a project including seasonal staff. * May provide vacation or other temporary relief for other classes in Division as required with proper training. * Operates a bucket truck or lift for various tasks, such as replacing lighting, repairing siding/roofs, or bridge repairs and inspections. * Removes snow from city lots, paths, sidewalks, and streets/alleys using a pickup truck with a plow or a dump truck with a plow and wing. * Sets up road/lane closures for special events and in compliance with state federal regulations. * Attends and participates in various meetings such as monthly crew meetings or project kickoff meetings. * Recommends and/or coordinate repairs and equipment replacement in City facilities with contractors or other City departments. * Perform related duties as required including the tasks defined in the lower rated job class. Knowledges: Working knowledge of: * Basic methods, materials and tools used in the building maintenance trades. * Occupational hazards and the safety precautions for performing maintenance and construction worker tasks. Ability to: * Use and care for standard hand and power tools utilized in the building trades; * Operate multi-purpose motorized equipment in a thorough, effective and efficient manner. * Make minor repairs and adjustments of equipment. * Follow oral and written instructions including from blueprints or design sketches; * Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports; * Work in cramped, confined surroundings and on ladders or lifts; * Perform heavy manual labor; * Establish and maintain working relationship with co-workers, supervisors and others contacted in performing the duties and responsibilities. * Work under adverse weather conditions. * Safely lift up to 100 pounds. * Perform the physical requirements of this position. Requirements/Special Requirements Training and Experience: Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledges and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain these knowledges and abilities would be: Two years of experience of either general building maintenance work or in any of the building trades. Preferred that the employee possess and maintain the National Playground Safety Institute Certification within one year of appointment to the assignment. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Certification Requirement: Preferred that the employee possess and maintain the National Playground Safety Institute Certification within one year of appointment to the assignment. Driver License Requirement: Must possess and maintain valid Class B Commercial Driver's License. Residency Requirement: No residency requirement.
