Job Summary


This position exists to provide customer service, food preparation, serving and cleaning for the cafeteria/kitchen/coffee shop or dining area for patrons of the City View Caf, City View Coffee Shop or Catering. The City View Caf, the coffee shop and catering exist to provide auxiliary services to students, staff and organizations within the community. The food service worker position is responsible for ensuring food is prepared adequately and in a timely manner. Excellent customer service is provided to each person coming into the cafeteria, coffee shop or serviced through catering. The food service worker is responsible for ensuring their area is adequately stocked and prepared for service and ready for another shift. It is expected that the food service worker assists in keeping the food prep, service and kitchen areas clean to prevent situations of foodborne illness. The food service worker is responsible for making recommendations to management regarding processes and/or inventory quantities for smooth operations of the area. All employees of Saint Paul College are responsible for promoting a culture that supports diversity and inclusion in all forms as well as providing excellent customer service continuously to all internal and external contacts.

Qualifications



Minimum Qualifications:


Knowledge of:

  • Materials and methods used in preparing food,
  • The care and use of cooking utensils and equipment,
  • Food values and nutrition.

Ability to:

  • Do simple cooking on large scale and to plan and prepare small meals on a household scale,
  • Perform simple cleaning and food service tasks,
  • Follow oral and written instructions,
  • Provide lead work to student workers as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 or more years experience in food service

  • Experience with Micros point of sale system.

  • Knowledge or training in policies and procedures related to food service operations;

  • Experience working food service equipment such as ovens, slicers, fryers.

  • Experience in catering services.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team

  • Serve Safe Food Handler Certification

  • Demonstrated inter-cultural competencies.

Additional Requirements


In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges

& Universities (MnSCU) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to MnSCUs vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
