The Food Service Supervisor will direct and manage the food service program that fulfills federal, local and state regulations, provides nutritious, high-quality meals to all customer groups, and cooperates with the staff in special meals and catering needs.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; - Two (2) years school district food service experience; - One (1) year successful experience in school food service management; - Food handler certification; - Demonstrated knowledge of food services rules and regulations to meet federal, state and local guidelines; - Ability to operate and maintain institutional equipment; - Knowledge in budget development and financial management; - Knowledge of personnel management skills and leadership; and - Expertise in USDA and TDA regulations and rules regarding school meals.

Preferred Education and Experience Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide children with a well-balanced and nutritious meals.

  • Manage the preparation and delivery of quality meals for all food through the use of standardized recipes.

  • Develop recipes and menus that meet the National School Lunch Program required nutritional guidelines by age/grade groups.

  • Maintain complete records for program accountability including deliveries, cash receipts and meals served, and food production records.

  • Ensure that high safety and sanitation standards are complied with by staff.

  • Ensure that food service program meets or exceeds federal, state, local laws and regulations.

  • Ensure the requirements in the area of meal service accountability are adhered to within university guidelines.

  • Prepare and submit requisitions for food and supplies according to menus and delivery schedules.

  • Supervise the work activities of the cafeteria staff including interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Perform all other job related duties as assigned by supervisor.
