FOOD SERVICE WORKER Job Description: Under supervision, to assist in the preparation of school lunches; to serve lunches at a main or subsidiary cafeteria; to perform routine cleaning tasks in a school cafeteria; and to do related work as required.
Qualifications: 1. Knowledge: Knowledge of basic food serving utensils; sanitation principles applicable to food serving and kitchen maintenance. 2. Ability: Ability to follow written and verbal directions; read and write English; perform assigned tasks without close supervision. 3.
Experience: Six months of paid or unpaid experience in food preparation and kitchen maintenance. 4. Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. 5. Possess valid California drivers license.
Typical Duties: 1. Assists in the kitchen by helping prepare fruits, vegetables, sandwiches and other foods. 2. Sets up and serves hot food, sandwiches, beverages and other foodstuffs at serving times. 3.
Assists in cleaning and storing cafeteria utensils, equipment and food supplies. 4. Washes trays, pots and pans and cleans and sweeps kitchen areas. 5. Performs routine cooking duties under supervision of manager. 6.
May be required to make change and keep appropriate financial records. 7. Work in close proximity to children of all age groups. Physical Requirements:
Employees in this position must have the ability to 1. Stand, walk; occasionally required to sit, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. 2. Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms. 3.
Talk or hear. 4. Taste or smell. 5. Regularly lift and/or move individually or with assistance up to 50 pounds using correct body mechanics. 6.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: The following characteristics are representative of conditions encountered in this position. 1.
Regularly works near moving mechanical parts. 2. Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; frequently exposed to extreme cold and heat. 3. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. 4.
Risk of electrical shock. Immediate Supervisor: Food Service Supervisor Assignment : Up to 7 hours per day as determined by the Supervisor Salary:
