Our K-12 division is rapidly expanding and we are looking for a Food Service Specialist to provide guidance for school nutrition programs. If you have experience in child nutrition, are comfortable in a kitchen environment and operational settting, consider joining the Taher team. Our Food Service Specialists serve a critical role in keeping our organization on the cutting edge of food service management by providing marketing leadership, menu development, employee training, and data analyzation to support our K-12 operations.
anti-hunger groups, state departments of education and agriculture
Responsible for successful placement of K-12 school nutrition marketing programs, promotions and menu development
Monitor school nutrition regulations to remain abreast of current events and issues
Collect, analyze, and evaluate data that supports school nutrition programs
Ability to work across the organization to foster collaboration and ensure overall success of goals
Key team member on the opening team for new business
Ability to Train employees on corporate standards and programs
Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or related field is preferred. Comfortable in a kitchen environment -- loud and fast paced
Five (5) years of experience in child nutrition including
Sales and marketing skills preferred
Proficient Computer Skills
Public speaking skills with ability to develop and deliver effective oral and written presentations.
Communicates effectively to staff, administration and all stakeholders.
Basic math skills used in standardization of recipes, grocery ordering
Understands large quantity cooking
Initiative- does not wait to be told what to do
Daily/Weekly travel required with some weekends. Flexibility in schedule to meet the needs and expectations outlined in the contract
Ability to "think quickly" on feet and make solid decisions.
Ability make short term and long term decisions
Problem solver with good analytical skills
Strong training skills in food production/kitchen management and financial administrative management- knows Taher's systems and expectations.
Planning/time management skills in establishing priorities and work with minimal supervision and meets deadlines
Ability to design, develop, implement, and evaluate programs.
Profit/Loss understanding or ability to learn- inventory, labor, ect.
Positive attitude with high energy
Enjoys working with people of all ages and understands "service".
Works independently and has the ability to stay on task with multiple interruptions throughout a day.
