Job Responsibilities
With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health
The Food Service Spec II (Shipping/Receiving) works under the Shipping/Receiving/Transport Supervisor(s) and/or Operations Manager receiving, transporting and shipping food in compliance with department, local, state and federal guidelines.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Conducts physical inventory and fills requisitions for departmental food and supplies. Receives, counts, and verifies food and supply deliveries against invoices.
Receives food and supplies and stores in appropriate location using FIFO principle and maintains cleanliness and organization of all cold and dry areas.
Serves as back-up driver, as needed, to various sites for receiving and making deliveries for food and supply items. Drivers will adhere to all rules such as but not limited to: checking the maintenance of vehicles before leaving in the morning, clean trucks as needed, clean/sanitize trucks between deliveries, plug in truck when not in use, report mechanical problems to supervisor, and deliver according to schedule, do not transport dirty trays with clean trays and receive list of duties from supervisor between deliveries.
Maintains records for inventories, quality control, quality assurance, sanitation check list, temperature, charts, and all other records necessary for the operation of the ship/rec/transp area. Maintains HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) standards compliance in all work areas.
Demonstrates good customer service with clients, Nutrition Services staff as well as all other DMH staff by providing required services in a pleasant, helpful and positive manner.
Adheres to patients' privacy and "Bill of Rights" standard requirements while performing duties.

There are no minimum training and experience requirements for this class.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
Additional Comments
Must retain valid driver's license. Physical ability to manually lift 50 lbs. and push 100 lbs. Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, pull, push, climb stairs or stand for extended periods of time. May encounter temperatures ranging from
