Description
The Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs (KDVA) is charged with ensuring that all Kentucky veterans and their families obtain the benefits and services they have earned.
KDVA administers numerous veterans programs and facilities such as:
Veterans benefits
Educational benefits
Homeless Veterans program
Women Veterans program
Employment services program
Wounded and Disabled Veterans program
5 State Veterans cemeteries
5 state Veterans centers for long-term skilled nursing care
KDVA is looking for a mission driven, self- motivated and energetic Food Service Operations Manager II to work in our Bowling Green Veterans Center located in Warren County, who possesses the skills, knowledge, and desire to perform the following, but not limited to, duties:
Build a dietary team for a newly constructed facility and be part of the facility start-up
Provide oversight for dining services, food preparation and delivery for a sixty-bed skilled nursing facility
Offer nutritious and appealing meals in a person-centered care environment
Ensure compliance with local, state, federal and Department of Veterans Affairs regulatory requirements
Order and maintain inventory, emergency supplies and contingency plans
Be a dynamic leader, engaging team members and foster innovation and excellence
The ideal candidate will work independently yet be part of a larger team to meet our commitment to serve Kentucky's Veterans.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree with courses in food preparation, food management or a related area.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have three years of experience in the operation and management of institutional, military or commercial food service operations.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in one of the above areas will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): If employed in the Kentucky Department of Parks or the Kentucky Horse Park, must be twenty years and one day of age at time of appointment. If employed in the Kentucky Department of Parks or the Kentucky Horse Park, must obtain S.T.A.R. (Server Training in Alcohol Regulations) certification from the Kentucky Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control within six months of appointment. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
