Salary
Under the Fair Labor and Standards Act this position is non-exempt from overtime. Actual salary placement will be in accordance with the salary procedures of the Frederick County Public School System.
Role
This position safely uses, operates, and maintains a Board of Education vehicle to load, transport and unload food, equipment and supplies to Food and Nutrition Service Sites, while obeying all driving laws and Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) regulations for driving FCPS vehicles.
Essential Functions
Reporting directly to the Food and Nutrition Service Warehouse Specialist, the Food and Nutrition Service Milk Driver performs the following duties:
Pick up milk from the dairy facility and deliver to sites per a specified delivery schedule
Report to and present accurately completed paperwork to the Food and Nutrition Services Procurement Coordinator daily.
Accurately counts milk received from the dairy facility each day and records milk temperature upon arrival. Coordinates with the Food & Nutrition Services Procurement Coordinator on correct amount of milk to load on each truck daily.
Report to the Food & Nutrition Services Procurement Coordinator any changes discovered when milk is received at the dairy immediately.
Count and verify cargo with delivery sheet.
Immediately notify the Specialist, Assistant Manager or Site Assistant if a school delivery is incorrect.
Daily orders collected from schools will be totaled & submitted via telephone call to the Food & Nutrition Services Procurement Coordinator.
Pick up empty milk crates at each delivery stop and return the crates to the dairy facility at the end of the day.
Clean truck inside cargo area and cab area at the end of each day.
Check milk to ensure proper content, quantity, and condition before delivery.
Maintain security of milk or other cargo while in possession of the vehicle.
Maintain temperature log of the refrigerated area of the milk truck and record temperatures at the start and end of each day.
Report damaged stock to the Food and Nutrition Services Procurement Coordinator.
Follow the dress code and hygiene requirements including the wearing of non-skid sole shoes at all times.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Food and Nutrition Services Procurement Coordinator.

Physical Requirements
Consistently lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Work in environments subject to extreme hot and cold temperatures, such as commercial kitchens, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, refrigerated trucks.
Ability to enter/exit a vehicle repeatedly daily.
Ability to twist and bend.
Ability to spend long hours standing and walking.
Ability to reach with both hands and both arms.
Sufficient manual dexterity to grasp, handle, manipulate, and/or feel objects and use office technology.
Sufficient mobility to move about the work area.
Sufficient vision to read and comprehend printed materials, see distant objects with clarity, and identify and distinguish objects.
Occasionally climb or balance.
Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Work Environment
Regularly work with loud noise, ex: food preparation equipment and raised voices associated with school cafeterias and commercial kitchens.
