Job #75756 Sodexo is seeking a Food Service; Dining Room, Catering, Chef Manager (II) for The Hermitage of Northern Virginia in Alexandria, VA. This is a 200 Resident Continuing Care Retirement Community owned and operated by Virginia United Methodist Homes and located on a tree-lined campus in a residential neighborhood. Located just minutes from Washington, D.C. on the Potomac River waterfront, at the heart of it all is bustling King Street!
In this role, you report to the General Manager, oversee catered events, manage one supervisor and 25 hourly employees in the high engagement program, create wait staff and diet team schedules, assist with food and labor cost controls, monitor the Assisted Living dining venue and create specials with the culinary team that are Resident driven, maintain service standards in the dining venues, conduct Sodexo self-audits, manage the HACCP process for food safety & sanitation, run weekly huddles, train staff on Hermitage standards, meet with Residents in Assisted Living and Health Care and assist with creating special events, follow kitchen closing protocols, and keep the Resident Touch Town Application updated (Menu Advertisements).
Your Skills Checklist for this position:
Some College / Trade School, Servsafe Certified
Front of the house restaurant dining & wait staff training experience
Hands on food production & catering experience
Culinary background to cook & create menus for events
Skills to: interview, hire, train, schedule, evaluate a team of 25
Catering, food retail, cash handling, billing experience
Working knowledge of HACCP for regulatory compliance
Computer skills; food & labor management systems
Computer skills to work in excel, word & PowerPoint
Ability to assist with budget; 1.5 million in volume
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks is essential
Experience in retirement community / country club / healthcare is ideal

Provides supervision for multi-functional food service areas at an account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the Company. Contributes to account revenue and operating profit through the implementation of Sodexo programs while executing against Standard Operating Procedures.Key Duties- Maintains and develops client relationships and customer satisfaction for multi-functional food service areas to ensure account retention and positive public relations
Establishes and maintains a safe work environment- Supervises day-to-day work activities by delegating authority, assigning and prioritizing activities and monitoring operating standards- Utilizes Sodexo resources and programs to ensure operating standards and regulatory requirements are met and employees have the necessary equipment and inventory
Manages by providing positive and constructive feedback to employees in order to reward, coach, correct and motivate in order drive a high-level of employee engagement
