The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Food Service Lead position, at the Spring Creek Correctional Center (SCCC) located in Seward, Alaska.

Facilities 30 Second Cut

What you will be doing:

Leads prisoner kitchen workers in the preparation and production of meals for approximately 550 prisoners and 30 staff per meal at Spring Creek Correctional Center in the APS main kitchen. Maintains security and control of prisoners in the absence of Correctional Officer staff. Ensures meat pulls are consistent with prepared menu, oversees actual preparation and serving of food to inmates and staff. Ensures that all modified diets are properly prepared for each meal, which includes, but is not limited to, vegetarian, diabetic, allergy, disruptive inmate diets, religious diets, and other diets as prescribed by the Medical Department. Oversees the production and preparation of all bakery items served at SCCC. Ensures the proper baking and preparation of all breads, e.g., sandwich, hot dog buns, hamburger buns, French bread, wheat and rye breads. Ensures the baking and preparation of all pastry items, e.g., cakes, pies, cookies, puddings and breakfast pastries.

The working environment you can expect:

Spring Creek Correctional Center is a maximum-security state operated adult correctional institution.  The institution has a capacity of over 500 male inmates and employs approximately 200 staff.  While much of Spring Creek's inmate population serve long-term sentences, we also house prisoners serving shorter sentences. This position will be located in one of the three institutional kitchens.

CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECKS/APSIN/ACOMS

Please be aware - this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS).  A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS.  DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice.  Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
