Prairie St. John's, a 110-bed psychiatric care facility located in Fargo, North Dakota, has been providing services for children, adolescents and adults to address mental health issues, chemical dependency or addiction and co-occurring disorders since 1997. Prairie offers a full-service psychiatric and addiction Continuum of Care. This Continuum of Care includes inpatient hospitalization, partial hospitalization, residential treatment, intensive outpatient services and clinic services. Prairie St. John's currently has a PRN Food Service worker position available. The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with patients and staff to ensure patient and guest satisfaction

  • Expresses good customer service skills to problem solve or contacts manager if needed

  • Inventory management in the kitchen and patient care areas

  • Orders stock and supplies as needed through dietary manager

  • Assists in unloading trucks

  • Delivers food and dietary supplies to floors as requested

  • Produces and assembles trays for patients

  • Follows sanitation and safety guidelines ensuring work area is clean

  • Provides daily equipment cleaning and reports faulty equipment to management

  • Assists with maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies

  • Washes dishes and other kitchen items as needed

  • Organizes work flow and efficiently prioritizes work assignments

The position will work varying shifts (10:30 am

  • 7 pm & 6 am

  • 2:30 pm) and weekends as needed

Job Requirements

  • Requires previous experience with inventory management thorough the knowledge of food service practices.

  • Maintain general food service tasks (serving, stocking, preparing, delivering, cashiering).

  • Works in assigned position completing all job tasks required.

  • Assembles prepared food items, adhering to proper portion sizes and maintaining proper temperatures.

  • Proper food handling to include labeling, dating, proper food storage, taking and recording food temperatures accurately, and proper hand washing and wearing of gloves.

  • Sanitation of surfaces, knives, sinks, and practice food service HACCP guidelines.
