Food Service Assistant

The Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter School, a demanding college preparatory charter school, is seeking to hire committed, skilled, and inspiring educators. AMSA is committed to preparing all students to succeed in college and beyond. Located in Marlborough, MA, AMSA includes 6th through 12th grade classes.

The Advanced Math & Science Academy Charter School is currently accepting applications for a part-time, 20 hour per week, Food Service Assistant for the 2024-2025 school year. AMSA does not currently have a working kitchen on-site. School lunches are provided by our catering vendor and delivered daily.

The Food Service Assistant will:
Set up the Food Service line for daily lunch (which includes lifting of milk crates and cambros). Lunch is provided by the school caterer and not cooked on site.
Prepare cafeteria trays with napkins and utensils (based upon the lunch count of the day).
Confirm the delivered food is at proper temperature and notated on the production sheet. Confirm daily food count.
Clean all food service areas, lunch trays and table tops in the school cafeteria on a daily basis.
Clean and sweep the kitchen and cafeteria on a daily basis (and if needed, mop as well).
Trash removal: Empty all trash barrels in the cafeteria. This includes tying the bags and placing them into the dumpster (note - need to be able to lift up to 30lbs) as well as relining the barrels with clean bags.
Check and record dishwasher temperature daily.
Work closely with the food service team to ensure you have all needed supplies on a weekly basis.
Perform other duties as requested by your supervisor or designee from administration.

Qualifications:
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
Must be able to calculate sums of money in a fast paced setting.
Serv Safe or Food Safety Handler and CPR certification is desirable.
Current authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
