Requirements / Qualifications

Individuals possessing the knowledge and abilities listed above are considered to possess the necessary education and experience. Required Food Handlers Certificate.

Assist in routine aspects of food preparation such as opening cans, buttering bread, chopping, cutting, slicing and grating food, panning food, preparing sandwiches, dishing food and assembling ingredients; may prepare salads, jellos, toppings, dressings and may assist in the preparation of main dish and other cooking and baking duties; set-up, disassemble, clean and operate stoves, steam tables, dishwashers, mixers, graters, slicers and other equipment; assist on student serving lines, set-out prepared foods and dispense in proper proportions; keep milk, ice cream, or tray counts; assist with receiving and storage of foods; may take over duties of other Food Service Assistants during brief absences; observe safe and sanitary food handling procedures and practices.
