As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager (FSQA) for our facility in Ellensburg, Washington.

What We're Looking For:

We are currently hiring a full-time FSQA Manager. As a FSQA Manager, you will direct and coordinate all the Quality Control and Food Safety functions at the Ellensburg Division to ensure the consistent quality production of all products in compliance with Company and customer standards, and Federal/State regulations in a cost-effective manner.

You will supervise QC and Microbiological staff to evaluate and certify the quality of processed and packaged products. Organize and audit product quality and food safety programs throughout the entire process. Oversee complete and accurate recordkeeping of all facets of the quality program. Monitor production methods, in-process product quality, sanitation, product risk-management and product safety. Investigate and respond to customer complaints as directed by the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Leadership Team.

Knowledge, Skill and Experience Required:

  • Working knowledge of quality standards, production methods, microbiology, food processing and USDA grading standards.

  • Must possess strong mathematical, verbal, and written communication skills as well as human relation skills, leadership, coaching, participative management style.

  • Previous supervisory experience and strong management education and/or developed and demonstrated skills which include planning, organizing, goal setting, controlling, self-development, decision making and presentation skills a must.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.

  • Washington State Driver's License Required.

Required Education:

BA degree in food science or related field is desired, and experience in food processing, quality control, food safety, and microbiology. HACCP and PCQI certified or ability to become certified.

  • Thorough knowledge of HACCP principles, food processing GMPs, and FSMA Food Safety Plan/Preventive Controls requirements.

  • PCQI certification (Preventive Controls for Human Food).

  • Experience in developing and implementing micro lab standard operating procedures.

Essential Physical Abilities:

Ability to sit at an office desk with sufficient vision and physical dexterity to use PC desk top system for up to eight hours.

Ability to use standard functions of office equipment (PC, calculator, fax, printer, scanner, copier, smart phone, etc.).

Ability to lift and handle objects weighing up to 40 pounds for use in day-to-day job functions.

Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes which permit the employee to have access to various work sites throughout the facilities.

Ability to travel to other TCF company locations or industry events to conduct and participate in on-site meetings. May require overnight travel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and supervise the quality grading lab and microbiological lab for all processed/packaged vegetable products to assure specifications are met within the desired levels of productivity, safety, and quality desired by Twin City Foods Inc.

  • Assist in the hiring and training of all plant QC personnel.

  • Responsible for implementation, review, and maintenance of the Quality Program.

  • Review and maintain all QC specifications for accuracy and complete information.

  • Review and maintain Food Safety Plans and Quality Manuals, updating documentation within required frequencies.

  • Receive and review all quality control records. Maintain proper filing for data recall.

  • Update all grading procedures and specifications used by lab technicians.

  • Maintain and calibrate lab equipment.

  • Participate in audits by government, buyers, and independent agencies.

  • Conduct and initiate inspections of all plant areas for sanitation and safety purposes under HACCP guidelines.

  • Responsible for acquiring equipment/supplies for QC and Microbiological laboratories.

  • Complete requests from QA Leadership and Sales Departments in a timely fashion.

  • Serve as Food Safety and HACCP Team Coordinator.

  • Selected employee will be required to pass a background check, pre-employment drug screen and E-Verify*
