Idyllic Enterprises is currently looking for a person who can sample foods, evaluating their quality, and ensuring food safety. Food Quality Technician will take samples of food products as they move through production. These samples are then scrutinized for weight, color, consistency, texture, and other organoleptic criteria. Food quality techs will check measurements and quality using scales, visual exams, and taste tests, then compare batches with one another to ensure a uniform product from batch to batch, pulling inferior units along the way. This positions efforts ensure that every individually packaged product looks and tastes the same. In addition to the food itself, this person will appraise the ingredient labels to make sure they're readable. Food quality techs work to reduce the number of damaged packaging that leaves the facility by checking for damaged containers, labels, lids, etc. When done properly, each product is up to code, safe for consumption, and ready for distribution. A fine-tuned sense of taste is only one characteristic that will contribute to success in this position. Other qualifications include: adequate vision, the ability to distinguish minute differences between products, and a dedication to quality product. Another expectation is placing those findings against a well-established quality standard. Ideally, this person may have some knowledge of chemistry, food science, research, and development, or quality control in a food production company. The position's focus will be on tailoring and establishing methods to assure quality product, applying this process consistently and thoroughly with all products, identifying quality issues with raw materials, finished batches, and packaged & labeled a final product as early in the process as possible to minimize profit loss, & loss of time. Responsibilities
  • Devise procedures to inspect and report quality issues
  • Monitor all operations that affect quality
  • Assure the reliability and consistency of production by checking processes and final output
  • Report all malfunctions to production executives to ensure immediate action
  • Facilitate proactive solutions by collecting and analyzing quality data
  • Review current standards and policies
  • Keep records of quality reports, statistical reviews and relevant documentation
  • Ensure all legal standards are met
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines as well as legal obligations
  • Approve the right products or reject defectives
  • Be on the lookout for opportunities for improvement and develop new efficient procedures
  • Select output samples and check them using appropriate methods (measuring dimensions, testing functionality, comparing to specifications etc.)
  • Inspect procedures of the entire production cycle to ensure they are efficient and comply with safety standards

Requirements

Preferred/Bonus Qualifications or Experience

  • Certification of quality control is a strong advantage (ISO 9000 etc.)
  • Familiarity with USDA compliance, processes, procedures and documentation
  • Background in chemistry or food science
  • Experience in quality control for a food manufacturing company or facility
  • Ability to perform above average taste & odor analysis
