FOOD PROCESSING TECHNOLOGY MANAGER

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Food Process Technology Manager positionwill appeal to individuals who enjoy the challenge of leading in the creation and commercialization of new and improved/modified artisanal alternative plant protein products. The individual will need to be self-motivated, team oriented, enjoy a fast-paced environment, dogged in their pursuit of the end goal and capable of bringing creative approaches to the resolution of the broad array of challenges with which they will be confronted. He or she must also enjoy both hands on and a management nature in the job, that will require involvement in both pilot and plant activities with team members. A passion for food science and technology together with that ability to translate theory to practice are critical.
Position Responsibilities:
  • To provide strategic process improvement leadership to the organization. This will include the development of process improvement plans that utilize best practices in product development, research and technology, and are based on understanding, anticipating and meeting customer needs.
  • Working with vendors to identify, test and support the commercialization of new equipment.
  • Leading the organization and developing the capabilities to best meet future consumer needs with innovative, consumer-demanded products.
  • Cultivate external resources and suppliers to identify new technologies, processes, ingredients, etc.
  • Execute and coordinate all new equipment and process improvement within Lightlife and Field Roast facilities.
  • Coach and develop Research Development and Technology team members.
  • Manage national product standards within all processing facilities to establish world class standards for consistency.
  • Work closely with Operations, QA, Marketing, Engineering, Sales, Finance, Purchasing and other functional staff.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Post-secondary education in Food Science, Nutrition or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years of successive product development or related experience in the food processing industry
  • Excellent analytical, strategic, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Pro-active and performance driven individual
  • Must have a bias for action, be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail and results oriented
  • Team player with strong consumer and customer orientation
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

The Program Manager, WE Schools will be the key relationship manager for a portfolio of schools and is responsible for target setting that will result in retention, deepened engagement and increased fundraising involvement from year-to-year. <br />  <br />  <br /> This individual must be passionate and committed to the core beliefs of the organization—the WE.org Philosophy.  <br />  Your Impacts: (Responsibilities)  <br /> Educational Programming:  <ul> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Relationship Management: <ul style="list-style-type:circle;"> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Manage a portfolio of high-touch schools who are actively involved in WE Schools programming and campaigns</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Serve as an advisor and liaison to schools/educators and provide them with resources and support to implement WE Charity fundraisers and awareness raisers</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Create and execute a robust communication plan that connects with each school three times a quarter, includes school visits where possible</li> </ul> </li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Deliver workshops that provide educators with the skills, knowledge and inspiration they need to positively engage their students to become socially involved in their communities  </li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Fundraising: <ul style="list-style-type:circle;"> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Work with the Associate Director to develop a strategy to engage schools to fundraise in support of WE Villages</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Work with schools to develop and action plan that will allow them to reach their fundraising targets.   Identify top contributors and develop plans to support them in raising more than previous year. </li> </ul> </li> </ul>   Conversion <ul> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Work with the Associate Director to drive engagement and conversion among schools, educators and student leads</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;"> Implement plans to nurture relationships with schools and educators and to retain their involvement from year-to-year, as well as deepening their fundraising capacity and involvement by 10% per year Work with the Associate Director to develop a strategy to reach new schools and prioritize engagement of existing schools and manage high-level relationships</li> <li style="padding: 0; margin: 0;" style="padding: 0; margin: 0;">Whenever needed, represent WE Schools on the frontline holistically pitching WE programming to new and existing stakeholders</li> </ul>  <br /> General and Administrative: <ul> <li style="padding: 0;
