We arenow hiring for Food Preparers to work in our flight kitchen located at the Seaqttle-Tacoma International airport. This position is represented by a labor Union and is covered by one or more collective bargaining agreements. You will need to remain flexible in your shift and days off, as we may be required to change your schedule from time to time to meet production needs, requirements of the industry, or to accommodate a shift bid in accordance with the union contract. This position starts out at $12.32 per hour and you will be paid weekly. Our benefits include free, hot and healthy meals daily, paid vacations and holidays and 401K with company match. Medical, dental and vision insurance is also available if you would like to enroll. These benefits will start on the first day of the month following your 60thday of employment.

A Food Preparer prepares meals for various airlines by cutting, chopping, and wrapping dishes and meals and setting up the food carts for delivery.

Job Specific

Requirements:

  • Pay the one-time union initiation fee of $75. This amount will be broken down into payments
  • Pay the monthly union dues of $46.50. This amount will be deducted automatically from your pay check the first pay period of the month and starts 60 days after your first day on the job

Our Employees Must Be Able to:

  • Work assigned schedule which may include multiple shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Work overtime when required
  • Arrive to work on-time
  • Handle fish, beef, pork,poultry, shellfish and other food products
  • Complete paperwork
  • Communicate with Supervisors and co-workers
  • Follow directions
  • Work as a member of a team

EnvironmentalRequirements:

  • Will beexposed toextreme temperature changes and noise
  • May work in a cold room of 40 degrees or less for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, move product, equipment andsupplies up to fifty(50)pounds
  • Regularly stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during shifts of 8+ hours

This position provides direct leadership for the Market Deli Specialist, Bakery & Coffee Specialist, and Food Service Coordinators. Specific Job Duties: Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: * Works closely with the Food Service Director, Market Deli Specialist, and Bakery & Coffee Specialist to identify, create, and launch innovative, great tasting and responsibly-sourced prepared foods, specialty cheese and charcuterie, baked goods, and beverages. * Collaborates with the Food Service Director, Market Deli Specialist, and Bakery & Coffee Specialist to identify food trends and develop programs and product assortment relevant to customer base. * Drives, tracks, and reports on all current food service product and program development. * Leads problem solving and troubleshooting efforts at the bench, test, and pilot steps of development. * Conducts analytical and sensory tests, shelf life and product stability studies, and makes recommendations for storage and handling. * Drives new food service product and program launches; leads Food Service Team in applying knowledge to new products and innovations; tracks and reports on new and existing product and program development. * Participates in ideation and strategic planning, category sales development, market assessment, competitive evaluation, project management, manufacturer and supplier development, and in-house production and sales standards. * Identifies opportunities for enhancement or improvement of food service products and programs. Communicates promptly to the Food Service Director. Recommends/implements solutions as appropriate. * Manages product specifications, ingredient statements, and nutritional labeling requirements in coordination with the Food Service Analyst. * Participates in the evaluation of new processing and production equipment. * Effectively builds and maintains morale; provides motivation and feedback; fosters a cohesive, productive team of employees. * Leads by example, provides employees with clear expectations and timely feedback. * Effectively delegates and follows-up with team members. * Works a flexible schedule as required by business needs, to include potential participation in industry-related trade shows and/or events.Other responsibilities as assigned by the Food Service Director. Skills Required / Qualifications: Candidates will be selected from applicants having the best combination of the following qualifications: * Culinary experience in prepared foods and/or bakery product development required. Coffee experience a plus. * Previous experience working in a retail food environment highly desired. * Bachelor's degree in business, food science, or culinary arts preferred. * Experience in product sourcing, ideation to commercialization, and supplier and manufacturer development essential. * Possesses a solid understanding of supply chain process in relation to bringing products to market. * Possesses comprehensive product information with a proven history of using knowledge to train employees and best service customers. Demonstrates a strong knowledge and understanding of food, including ingredients, applications, pronunciations, and culinary skills. Possesses a genuine passion for food. * Experience in product packaging preferred. * Ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and produce quality output while working within deadlines a must. Sense of urgency required. Excellent time management and organizational skills. * Demonstrates a high level of self-motivation; is receptive; takes initiative; utilizes creativity in problem solving. * Strong leadership skills; experience interfacing with teams from various professional backgrounds; proven history of personnel development. Ability to effectively delegate and follow-through. * Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint essential.
