Job Description

Food Specialist Culinary JD

This is a hands-on culinary kitchen role, under the guidance of the Manager, responsible for providing tactical support to the strategic planning, development and execution of food marketing plans, trends and consumer food insights for businesses, new platforms or innovation pipelines.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates understanding in culinary basics: the principles of cooking techniques, product characteristics, safe food handling techniques, food & nutrition, and idea development. Understands how to apply consumer food insights, sensory attributes and principles effectively into project work to guide decision-making.

  • Develops understanding of and ability to translate food trends into innovative opportunities, stimulate new food ideas and product concepts.

  • Apply key trends and consumer insights from proprietary culinary tools and all other relevant vendor research materials to assist in research of consumer usages for new and existing products, while working within clearly defined strategies, objectives, priorities, tactics in order to optimize business results.

  • Demonstrates basic proficiency in the areas of planning, development and execution of all the core services of Culinary such as recipe development, package directions, performance and yield testing, learning labs, food trend research/application.

  • Understands and adheres to Culinary Center Of Excellence Best Practices within the department and to business partners throughout the organization.

  • Develops well-written and consumer-driven food ideas, using established formats and styles. Effectively master the use of proprietary recipe database which includes understanding consumer nutrition guardrails.

  • Demonstrates strategic thinking, clear communication skills, consistent attention to detail and proactive ownership across all assigned work.

  • Works well in a team environment, able to balance multiple and/or shifting priorities, and flexes to provide support to colleagues as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 0-2 years of experience in culinary, food and nutrition

  • Minimum 0-2 years of experience corporate assignments

  • Excellent Culinary Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in related fields

  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal) and influencing skills

Description Position Summary: The Food Prep Worker is responsible for assisting cooks, chefs, or food service managers by preparing ingredients for recipes and performing other food preparation and service tasks. The Food Prep Worker should prepare food according to recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by Aramark location based on client requirements and business needs. Essential Functions: * Prepares a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes * Sets up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment * Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items * Safely utilizes a variety of utensils including knifes * Arranges, garnishes, and portions food according to established guidelines * Properly stores food by adhering to food safety policies and procedures * Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils * Maintains excellent customer service and positive attitude towards guest, customers, clients, co-workers, etc. * Adheres to Aramark safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation * Ensures security of company assets * Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager Qualifications * Previous experience in food prep or food service related work preferred * Knowledge of various food prep methods, proper knife handling, and food safety regulations such as proper food handling, sanitation, and storage preferred * Must be able to obtain food safety certification * Demonstrates basic math and counting skills * Demonstrates interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal * Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling of up to 25 lbs. * Rotating shifts, weekends and holidays Aramark Corporation Glenview IL
