The Food & Beverage team works together to provide the guest a fresh, full and food safe shopping experience all day, every day.


The Food & Beverage team enables a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is fresh, in stock, available and accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. They are experts of operations, process and efficiency. This team leads food and food services including replenishment, inventory accuracy, food safety, presentation, pricing and promotional signing processes for all Food & Beverage areas of the store.

  • Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest first culture on your team

  • Knowledge of Food & Beverage business fundamentals: department sales trends, freshness and quality, inventory management, guest shopping patterns and pricing and promotions strategies

  • Skills in planning department(s) daily/weekly workload to support Food & Beverage priorities and deliver sales goals

  • Experience leading a team of hourly team members; including skills in interviewing, developing, coaching, evaluating and retaining talent

As a Food & Beverage Team Leader, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:

  • Understand sales goals, plan and execute daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement, including: merchandising, pricing, transitions, revisions, sampling and promotions

  • Execute a fresh, full and food safe area during all operating hours leveraging strong inventory management, area routines and Food Safety policies and procedures

  • Assess Food & Beverage and Food Service (where applicable) backroom and sales floor areas; walk Food & Beverage Standards to identify priorities and develop business plans and assignment sheets; review reporting to identify business trends for follow-up

  • Ensure proper execution on all food safety standards and cleaning routines

  • Validate and follow-up on experts' progress against Daily Assignment Sheets and department checklists (Target Caf and Starbucks)

  • Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs (this includes early morning, evening, overnight shifts and weekends)

  • Establish relationships with direct to store vendors to ensure service agreements are being met and areas are full and maintained

  • Lead your team to uphold and maintain all Starbucks and Pizza Hut Brand Standards and foster a productive relationship with your Starbucks DM, following-up on key takeaways from their time in your store (where applicable)

  • Expect and enable team members to stay up-to-date on relevant trends and products

  • Evaluate and recommend candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team

  • Lead team onboarding and learning and close knowledge gaps through training and experiences

  • Establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable to expectations

  • Become a subject matter expert in federal, state and local adult beverage laws as they apply to your business and protect your store's liquor license (if applicable)

  • Fulfill key carrying responsibilities, as the business needs

  • If applicable, as a key carrier, follow all safe and secure training and processes

  • Provide service and a shopping experience that meets the needs of the guest.

  • Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; Lead team to work in the same way and hold others accountable to this commitment

  • Address store needs (emergency, regulatory visits, etc.)

  • All other duties based on business needs

The good news is that we have some amazing training that will help teach you everything you need to know to be a Food & Beverage Team Leader. But, there are a few skills you should have from the get-go:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older

  • Previous retail and/or food experience preferred, but not required

  • Strong interest and knowledge of the Food & Beverage business

  • Lead and hold others accountable

  • Learn and adapt to current technology needs

  • Work independently and as part of a team

  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently

  • Welcoming and helpful attitude

  • Effective communication skills

Nature and Scope of the Job We have an opening for a Professional Development Group Leader in the Workforce and Organization Development (WOD) Division. You will formulate organization objectives and strategies and will have oversight responsibilities for the design, development, implementation and administration of the Laboratory's Professional Development institutional programs, which includes Employee and Leadership Development programs, Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, Educational Assistance Program and Onboarding. You will broadly interact with all levels of Laboratory management, external agencies and professional organizations. You will also serve as the back up to the WOD Division Leader. This position is in the Workforce and Organization Development Division within the Strategic Human Resources Management Directorate (SHRM). This position will be filled at either the H04.4 or H04.5 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level. Essential Duties * Provide leadership and oversee the development, implementation, communication and promotion of the Laboratory's professional development programs; formulate objectives and strategies to assure that programs and services are aligned and are integrated with Laboratory programmatic and business objectives. * Provide leadership and supervision to the Professional Development Group staff; set direction and expectations, assess performance, provide feedback and ensure development and opportunities. * Define and construct performance measures/metrics and assess the on-going effectiveness of the Laboratory Professional Development Programs and compare/contrast with immediate, medium and longer-term organizational needs and strategic goals; prepare analysis of findings and report to senior management. * Proactively conduct needs analysis for future development opportunities by consulting with customers, stakeholders and subject matter experts to assure that the professional development programs meet customer needs, regulatory drivers, contractual requirements and best practices. * In support of Professional Development staff, facilitate and lead training workshops effectively in a clear and interactive manner utilizing adult learning methodologies * Collaborate with managers in the SHRM Directorate in formulating and accomplishing strategic objectives in support of SHRM and LLNL's goals. * Oversee and manage the training and development budget, including forecasting, analysis and monthly reconciliation and reporting. * Serve as a leader to the training community across the institution, and as a spokesperson on specialized programs, projects or training, representing Professional Development, Workforce and Organization Development and SHRM; represent the Laboratory and training and development at complex wide meetings or on complex wide projects/committees. In addition, at the H04.5 Level: * Research new content/program design opportunities and/or updated/enhanced or extended curriculum strategies that will address multiple institutional development needs. * Lead the review, refinement, and implementation of a scalable onboarding experience and for multiple employee groups that promote the strategic value of the organization and affirm LLNL as an employer of choice. * Build training plans that are aligned to overall change management initiatives and are designed to guide audiences through the change phases, including all training, communications, and support activities required to successfully implement the change Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Organization Behavior, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience and training. * Significant experience in designing, developing, implementing, communicating, promoting, and administering institution-wide programs in the fields of management development, organization development, career management, education development and training. * Significant knowledge of industry standards pertaining to professional development programs, instructional design and development using the systematic approach to training (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate -ADDIE), and of adult learning theory, principles and application. * Experience in the supervision, leadership, and management of a professional and non-exempt staff of employees. * Advanced leadership, organizational problem solving, decision making and analytical skills necessary to independently advise, recommend and approve appropriate actions and implement solutions. * Extensive project management, planning, and organization skills, including ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, and prioritize projects/programs based on business objectives and ROI methodology * Advanced verbal and written communication skills to effectively explain, present, advise and influence internal and external stakeholders on a variety of issues and experience working effectively with all levels of an organization using strong interpersonal skills, including all levels of management, including executives; and scientific, engineering and administrative personnel. * Experience successfully developing and managing a budget including forecasting and reconciliation. In addition, at the HO4.5 Level: * Expert communication skills, including the ability to develop a strategy and roadmap for professional development programs * Ability to operate effectively and independently, even in areas of uncertainty and ambiguity * Extensive experience leading and overseeing a variety of cross-organizational and integrated projects with unique situations.
