Santa Monica Proper Hotel is seeking a dynamic, service-driven Food & Beverage Manager to assist in oversight of our high-volume rooftop restaurant and lounge, Calabra.
A seamless merger of historic retrofit and new construction, our 271-room luxury property features interior design by international style icon Kelly Wearstler, multiple dining options by local area culinary stars, a rooftop lounge and swimming pool, and 24,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
The Food & Beverage Manager will help foster and develop an exciting, positive, results-based environment for the Food & Beverage team. Our ideal candidate will possess strong personal organization, genuine hospitality and care for staff. Understanding and implementing contemporary luxury/lifestyle standards will be equally as crucial. This individual must understand the inner-workings of a hotel property in order to oversee both restaurant and IRD services when needed.
Responsibilities
Coordinate daily pre-shift to communicate daily specials and offerings
Actively manage the F&B operations, quality of service and interact with guests and staff during operations
Follow-up with unsatisfied guests and handles complaints
Coordinate daily pre-shift meetings with the F&B team
Assist with creating and maintaining procedural protocol for F&B Operations
Maintain daily set up and breakdown in line with Kelly Wearstler defined aesthetic
Assist with Special Events coordination, set-up and management
Maintain compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and standards
Assist with completing daily, weekly, and monthly management administrative duties including operations reports, financial documentation, guest correspondence, human resources / staff management paperwork, operations evaluations, standard operating procedures, safety and sanitations checklists, ordering and inventory documentation, and PR/marketing tasks.
Required Skills/Knowledge
Strong liquor, wine & beer knowledge required
Strong written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills
Proactive attitude with strong organizational and time management skills
The ability to motivate and inspire others to work cooperatively to achieve a designated goal
Flexible schedule - Willing and able to work shift duties that may include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays
Strong problem-solving skills
Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred
Experience: Over 3 years of hospitality experience, and 2 years of previous experience in a similar position preferred
Licenses or Certificates: ServSafe & RBS Required
