Focus Program - Part Time Instructor ON Campus Mornings

FOCUS is a Career Technical Education program offering 2-6 week sessions for CalWORKS participants referred by their case managers. The FOCUS program provides students with career and employment readiness skills including the following:

• Career assessments to determine student's areas of career interest, transferable skills, traits, barriers to employment, etc.

• Goal setting.

• Basic skills (reading comprehension, writing, math, graphic literacy), followed by assessments to determine current skill level.

• Employability soft skills such as communication, critical thinking, teamwork, etc.

• Computer and keyboarding skills.

• Other subjects and skill areas.

The FOCUS program runs M-F mornings from September - June. The Instructor will work on-campus and teach classes online using using Zoom and Canvas. Other requirements of the position include receiving County referrals, sending a weekly "Welcome" email, taking attendance, communicating enrollment, attendance, and other information to County staff, completing tracking reports, and maintaining assignments and activities on the Canvas course management system.
