1800Flowers.com is seeking a Floral Design Manager to develop the quarterly seasonal and core floral design assortments for the Florist Designed channel; including floral designs in vessels, centerpieces, certified lines and 3-D arrangements. Must work collaboratively and effectively with several cross-functional team members. This position is based in Carle Place, New York.

Responsibilities Inlcude, but are not limited to:

Floral Design Presentations
o Lead the product line presentation to management and cross functional teams
o Prepare floral arrangements for all product presentations
o Order and process floral for preparation of presentations
o Have visuals and add-ons, bundles prepared for the presentations
o Prepare Net Margin Analysis
o Perform verbal presentation for turnover to cross-functional teams

Hard Goods
o Provide direction to the PD team on viable vessels to include shape, dimensions, material and color.
o Provide testing of all vessels for use in the assortments
o Provide guidance to the sourcing manager on hard-good development and selections
o Create an overseas shopping list relative to core and seasonal needs
o Maintain an organized inventory of hard goods (vessels, picks, ribbon, add-ons, etc.)

Design Work
o Understand the development timeline and follow a schedule to meet all deliverables
o Utilize floral and hard goods that are available to the florists
o Designs should be unique and innovative.
o Designs must be exclusive and relevant
o Be organized in following the development requirements and deliverables
o Update and maintain current files for all Net Margin Analysis accurately

Trend Knowledge
o Understand and be mindful of floral and hard good trends in the marketplace
o Review the competitors for changes and new introductions as well as trends
o Read trade publications to maintain awareness of floral design trends
o Shop competitive retail locations and competitive internet sites for floral and hard good ideas and trends.
o Attend floral design workshops and relevant design classes

Floral Deliveries and Processing
o Receive and check in all floral deliveries for the development of product and check varieties are accurate for photo shoots
o Insure that all floral deliveries are accurate and in good quality
o Ensure that your design space is clean and all tools, floral, and vases are stored away at the end of each day

DRG Development
o Organize and supply product assortment line list and recipe information for the DRG ( Design Resource Guide ) seasonally meeting all relevant deliverables for this timeline
o Participate in the proof -- reading process of the DRG
o Development of the "how to" design tips and video portions of the DRG to ensure proper replication of the designs
o Provide inspiration for the Welcome Letter for proper creation of the letter to florists

Photography
o Oversee the development of the photography turn-over documents
o Monitor the floral varieties and colors are accurate for photo shoots
o Provide direction to floral stylists prior to the shoot to ensure the designs are styled properly

Design Inventory Replenishment
o Order new ribbon and accessories to keep the items fresh and new for development
o Keep an updated inventory of vessels and add-ons in the design studio
o Maintain a sufficient inventory of floral tools and floral supplies

Pre-Made Bouquet Program
o Review the results of the previous selections to understand potential changes to the program
o Action the changes to improve the results for the forthcoming year
o Follow the timeline relative to deliverables for the program
o Communicate with the farm(s) on sampling, changes and modifications , improvements required, etc.

  • Prior floral design experience and knowledge of floral varieties

  • Design expertise and floral certifications are a plus

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment

  • Capable of working well with all cross-functional team members

  • Excellent organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Confident presentation skills to a large group

  • Mathematical skills and understanding of the gross margin process

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite of Products

In addition to creating a top-notch social media strategy for the entire 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc. enterprise, the main focus of this role is to oversee the social media tactics for the Harry & David brands including Harry & David, Wolferman's Bakery, and Stockyards, and the 1-800-Flowers.com brands including 1-800-Flowers.com and Shari's Berries. The goals are to increase brand awareness and build an engaging social media community by leveraging channel-specific content, sweepstakes, out-of-the-box thinking, social media best practices, influencers, events, partners, etc. This position is responsible for using social media channels to express the 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc. family of brands effectively, and directly engage with consumers to promote and inspire confidence in our Enterprise's products. This is a fast-paced role with great opportunities to work across departments and among multiple brands. Expectations include: manage a team of two Social Media Specialists, research target audiences, ability to write and edit copy for social media posts and company blogs, oversee influencer campaigns, manage relationship with Creative teams to produce needed graphic designs for social needs, and analyze trending topics and new social media platforms for future growth opportunities. Additional responsibilities include carrying out a variety of monitoring and analysis through social channels to gain customer insights and competitive intelligence. Work closely with Customer Care to ensure social media conversations are held to our high standards of best practices and customer satisfaction. Pitch ideas, create briefs, build reports showcasing important business and social metrics for presentation to upper management. Enterprise's social platforms and communities including: Facebook, Facebook Live, Instagram, Instagram Stories, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Snapchat, TikTok, new emerging apps, blogs, etc. Identify opportunities, bloggers, partners, tools and trends in the social space and recommend the best course of action with justifiable metrics. Understand current trends, technologies and advancements in social, mobile and online review sites. * Collaboration: Be open to working across departments, such as Customer Care, Merchandising, Display, PR, Fulfillment, Creative, Partnerships, eComm, SEO, Email, Catalog, etc. * Content Management (Calendars and Assets): Develop and create unique content for all brand's social media platforms. Develop a social strategy for content calendars; and create a content plan based on photo and video needs.
