What You Will Do

All Lowe's associates deliver quality customer service while maintaining a store that is clean, safe, and stocked with the products customers need. As a Customer Service Associate Sales Floor, this means:

  • Being friendly and professional, and engaging customers to help with project needs and answer questions.

  • Ensuring merchandise is accurately accounted for, handled, and ready for customer pick-up.

  • Engaging in safe work practices and encouraging others to do the same.

The Customer Service Associate Sales Floor delivers excellent customer service by listening to customers, using expertise to help customers, and loading merchandise for customers. Overall, most of this associate's time is spent interacting with our customers and ensuring they receive the best possible shopping and project planning experience.

Travel Requirements:
This role does not require regular travel; however, this role may need to travel on occasion to meetings, trainings, or to support neighboring stores.

What We're Looking For

  • Hourly Full Time or Part Time: Generally scheduled 39 to 40 or up to 25 hours per week, respectively; more hours may be required based on the needs of the store.

  • Requires morning, afternoon and evening availability any day of the week.

  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, and other activities necessary to perform job duties.

  • Minimally must be able to lift 25 pounds without assistance; may lift over 25 pounds with or without assistance.

What You Need To Succeed

Minimum Qualifications

  • 6 months experience using a computer, including inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information.
  • 6 months experience using a handheld device (e.g., mobile phone, LRT gun, palm pilot, tablet, iPod) to enter, access, and output information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in trade related to department (e.g., kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden).
  • 1 year of retail experience identifying and selling products based on customer needs, including credit cards, installations, add-on sales, and explaining warranties, product features, and benefits.
  • 1 year of retail experience providing customer service, including identifying and resolving customer issues, assisting customers in locating product, greeting customers, answering phones, building relationships with customers, and thanking customers for their business.
  • 1 year of retail merchandising experience, including performing Zone Recovery, stocking, down stocking, facing/fronting product, pricing, maintaining signage, and housekeeping.
  • 1 year of retail experience in related department (e.g., kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden).
  • 1 year of experience in a customer service position at a home improvement or hardware retailer in related department (e.g., kitchen, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden).
  • 1 year of experience working in any department at a Lowe's retail store.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience in any field, including directing, evaluating, and coaching employees.

If the state or local municipality requires a salesperson license for this position, you must either be licensed or pass the requisite licensing exam within sixty (60) days of starting employment in this position.

As a Seasonal Associate, this means: * Being friendly and professional, and responding quickly to customer and associate needs. * Ensuring merchandise is stocked and presented appropriately for customers. * Engaging in safe work practices and encouraging others to do the same. The Seasonal Associate includes one of the following positions Assembler, Receiver/Stocker, Customer Service Associate (CSA) - Sales Floor, CSA Loader, CSA Front End, typically in a temporary capacity. All employees support Lowe's mission by providing excellent customer service through greeting customers, responding to customer inquiries, and assisting them in locating, selecting, demonstrating, preparing, or loading merchandise. Additionally, each role has specific key responsibilities that contribute to Lowe's mission to provide quality service and the right products, for example: assembling merchandise (Assembler), distributing and stocking merchandise (Receiver/Stocker), loading merchandise for customers (CSA Loader), assisting with shopping needs (CSA Sales Floor), and processing sales and returns (CSA Front End). This is not an exhaustive list of duties, and Seasonal Associates may be asked to help with other duties as needed. Individuals applying for Seasonal Associate may be considered for any one of these roles, depending on hiring needs. Responsibilities All Seasonal Roles * Provides SMART customer service at all times through the daily execution of Lowe's customer service policies, procedures and programs. * Seeks out customers to understand his/her needs and assists in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise. * Listens to and responds knowledgeably and promptly to customer and employee questions by taking them to areas of the store and walking them through projects when necessary. * Demonstrates sincere appreciation to customers. * Communicates information to customers regarding all stock, special order merchandise, feature benefits, application, and warranty information related to Lowe's programs. * Cross-functionally trains in other areas of the store to help deliver the best customer service. * Detects common signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks, and promptly communicates them to management and/or Asset Protection. * Ensures compliance with housekeeping standards and programs (e.g., Zone Recovery) to maintain cleanliness and organization of store and working areas. * Maintains a safe and secure work environment, which may include conducting daily safety reviews, noting hazards, keeping aisles clear, and securing doors and gates. * Adheres to all safety requirements relevant to one's regular job duties: top stock safety, reinstalling safety cables, use of aisle blockers, a tether line on power equipment, spotters, and safety devices. * Operates store equipment as needed depending on one specific role and department (e.g., Zebra phone, telephone, paging system, copiers, fax machines, computers, CCTV surveillance system, key cutter, panel saw, paint mixer, flooring cutters, compacter baler). CSA – Front End * Prepares register area for customer transactions at the beginning and end of shift by confirming functionality of registers and scanners and stocking register supplies (e.g., Register tape, bags). * Uses a cash register to process sales transactions, returns, and refunds according to company guidelines; removes security tags, verifies product information, bags merchandise, and inspects returned merchandise for damages. * Answers incoming phone calls and directs calls or takes messages as needed. * Offers customer loyalty and credit programs to all customers; enrolls and activates interested customers. * Enters and submits customer orders, prints order tickets, verifies receipts, and signs off on loading tickets. * Looks up product information and competitor prices for products to verify price match. * Prevents loss by monitoring merchandise entering and leaving the store entrances and exits; assists customers or associates who trigger the alarm; notifies management of any specific incidents or suspicious activity. * Takes action to ensure other registers are opened when necessary to accommodate high customer volume. * Sells extended protection plans to customers when appropriate. * Associates supporting the Admin office create, manage, and update reports (A/R Payment Detail Retrieval, Expense Payables Invoice Advisory, Outstanding Return Checks, and Temporary Accounts). * Associates supporting the Admin office process customer credit card payments and applications, mail invoices, and investigate and resolve credit disputes with customers. CSA – Loader * Provides customer service by greeting customers, answering the phone, honoring price guarantee and sharing information related to special order, installation and delivery options. * Promotes and offers customer loyalty program. * Provides prompt support to all checkout functions, call buttons, departmental pages, or requests for assistance. * Pulls orders for customers and contractors. * Cleans the parking lot of shopping carts and ensures shopping carts are appropriately placed for shopping throughout the store. * Validates items being carried in and out of the store when appropriate. * Down stocks merchandise by looking for empty areas on shelves and replenishing supplies. • Uses power equipment to handle freight when needed. CSA – Sales Floor * Provides customer service by greeting customers, answering the phone, honoring price guarantee and sharing information related to special order, installation and delivery options. * Promotes and offers customer loyalty and credit programs, extended protection or replacement plans on any qualifying products. * Provides prompt support to all checkout functions, call buttons, departmental pages, or requests for assistance. * Breaks down and appropriately discards cardboard boxes. * Observes and validates items being carried in and out of the store by checking receipts and load tickets. * Down stocks merchandise by looking for empty areas on shelves and replenishing supplies. * Generates leads for Project Specialist Exterior (PSE) programs by actively engaging customers in their project needs. * Prepares merchandise in department of responsibility based on customer requirements/specifications (e.g., tints and mixes paint, cuts and threads pipe, cuts and bundles wood, cuts drywall, cuts blinds). * Uses store systems to prioritize loads, print pricing labels, and to look up items or item numbers for price and inventory information. Required Education/Experience Minimum Qualifications: * Assembler & Receiver/Stocker – Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction). * CSAs (Loader, Front-End, and Sales Floor) – 6 months of experience using a computer, including: inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information AND 6 months of experience using a handheld device (e.g., mobile phone, LRT gun, palm pilot, tablet, iPod) to enter, access, and output information.
