2nd Shift, 1:30pm to 10:00pm

Shift Differential of $1.50/hr for 2nd shift

Our manufacturing facility is looking for a new member of the team to be a expert on leading their team of production and packaging personnel. The Floor Lead will oversee production or packaging and assist in the safe manufacturing of pet products. They are responsible for working with facility management to ensure that personnel assigned in their area of responsibility are meeting performance goals. These goals include safety, quality, productivity, accuracy of work and customer satisfaction. In addition, they are also responsible for training employees, addressing employee issues, and keeping accurate production records.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Management and Supervisors on daily production requirements and implements the plan on the production floor.

  • Distributes production and staffing schedules to all areas.

  • Act as liaison between all departments.

  • Provides guidance and direction for hourly employees on a manufacturing line which includes, planning, assigning, and directing work.

  • Responsible for addressing and resolving minor employee issues and concerns.

  • Supports machine operators by providing supplies.

  • Responsible for assisting in accurate inventory of key supplies.

  • Provides guidance to all employees in the absence of Management.

  • Motivate and work with employees to meet production objectives.

  • Promote team spirit, cooperation, and high morale, resolving conflict if needed in a polite and friendly manner.

  • Be proactive to quality issues and alert QA Manager of potential problems before found.

  • Ensures quality checks are being completed correctly by operators.

  • Work to establish a safe work environment in accordance with a safe work environment.

  • Responsible for communicating and delivering safety initiatives.

  • Ensure work area is cleaned on a daily basis.

  • Train and develop employees on required department tasks:

  • Provide direction to ensure all employees are cross trained on multiple activities and have knowledge of all products.

  • Assess employee activities and skills in conjunction with Management.

  • Completes shift attendance and escalates any staffing issues to the Production Manager and Production Supervisor.

  • Identifies root-cause for production issues and implements appropriate corrective action.

  • Recommends measures to improve working conditions, production methods, equipment performance, quality of product and food safety.

  • Completes administrative duties; maintains a status sheet of line issues hourly, completes end of shift reports, and completes accurate production records.

  • Displays solid understanding of mechanical functions related to dry and liquid production.

  • Complies with all Company policies and procedures.

  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Profile

  • High School Diploma is required

  • Associates Degree is preferable

  • Minimum of two years (2) of experience in a lead level role is required.

  • Minimum of two years (2) working in a manufacturing facility is required, preferably working with food products.

Required Skills

  • Job requires 80% work on floor 20% administrative tasks

  • Must have a basic understanding of warehouse management systems. (Preferably SAP)

  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment

  • Have effective oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent

  • Must have basic computer skills familiar with Excel, Word and Internet browsing

  • Must exhibit mechanical aptitude as demonstrated through skill-based testing, on-the-job experience, past work experience, and/or education

  • Able to stoop, bend, and climb

  • Must be able to frequently lift/or move 10-40 pounds

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

  • Exposure to hot and cold warehouse climate

  • Frequent exposure to motorized warehouse equipment

  • Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, and stooping
