SUMMARY

Please be advised that this position is a temporary 8-week minimum that has the potential to become full-time after 8 weeks. Benefits are only offered to full-time team members.

The Floor Installation Technician will install tile, waterproofing material, grout, LVP, sound-deadening or decorative covering to floors and walls, per specification by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Disconnects and removes obstacles such as appliances and furniture

  • Sweeps, scrapes, sands, or chips dirt and irregularities from base surfaces, and fills cracks with putty, plaster, or cement grout to form a smooth, clean foundation

  • Cut tiles and shape them properly to ensure they fit around obstacles and in tight corners and odd spaces using power and hand tools

  • Form tile beds using concrete, plaster, mastic, cement, glue or mortar utilizing tools such as screeds, brushes and trowels

  • Align tiles and straighten them with straightedges, levels and squares to ensure patterns are even and precise

  • Prepare various surfaces for tiling with waterproofing material or lath and by cleaning the surfaces properly

  • Create decorative wall and floor designs by laying and setting mosaic tiles in kitchens, bathrooms and living rooms

  • Tap tiles into place carefully using tools to properly adhere tiles to the base, making sure not to break or damage tiles

  • Cut luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring materials.

  • Use adhesive to glue material to floor.

  • Unroll and install polyethylene film.

  • Install padded underlayer to reduce noise.

  • Install floor covering and ensure there are no cracks.

  • Clean up leftover adhesives.

  • Mop up floors and inspect finished product for flaws.

  • Replace any defective flooring material.

  • Follow blueprints precisely and mark and measure surfaces that need to be tiled to determine how to go about job

  • Leaves work area in clean, neat and safe condition

  • Examines blueprints, measures and marks surfaces to be covered, and lays out work

  • Spreads concrete on sub-floor with trowel and levels it with screed

  • Must have the ability to follow safety guidelines/practices and recognize and identify potential hazards in the property

  • Must be able to work independently and with minimal to no supervision or support

  • Must comply with all CFI policies and procedures

  • Must represent Westgate Resorts in a professional manner through appearance, dress and professional behavior at all times, as dictated in the Team Member's Handbook

  • Other duties as assigned by resort operations leadership

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Applies blocks, strips, sheets of shock absorbing, sound-deadening or decorative covering to floors, walls, and cabinets, lays and/or repairs tiling per specification by performing the following duties

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Must communicate effectively with immediate supervisors and resort leadership

  • Written and verbal communication in English is expected

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must have valid Driver's license.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic math skills including ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply and divide tens and hundreds; and to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
