The Flood Insurance Program Specialist is responsible for activities and insurance monitoring related to the bank's flood insurance program to protect the bank's interest.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Operational Duties:

  • Responsible for ensuring adequate coverage is held at all times when required, lender placed insurance procedures are followed and all regulatory guidelines are properly followed

  • Ordering the Special Flood Hazard Determination Form (SFHDF) and serving as a liaison between front-line associates and the SFHDF vendor

  • Responsible for reviewing evidence of flood insurance coverage for adequacy and making decisions related to insurance servicing

  • Collaborate with the third-party vendor to ensure adequate flood insurance coverage is maintained on all designated loans throughout the life of the loan

  • Ensure force placed insurance is processed timely when borrowers fail to provide proof of flood insurance coverage and insurance payments and refunds are processed timely and accurately

  • Responsible for processing and completion of daily, weekly and monthly monitoring reports to ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Reconciliation between all flood positive loans in the core system and any positive flood determinations ordered through the SFHDF vendor

  • Reconciliation of all flood positive loans in the core system and those loans being tracked by the bank's flood insurance tracking vendor

  • Reviewing actionable reports from third-party vendors to ensure flood insurance tracking vendor is performing duties within acceptable time frames

  • Report any issues promptly to the Flood Insurance Program Manager

Customer Service

  • Responsible for fostering the FirstBank experience to our internal customers, FirstBank associates

Standards and Training

  • Maintain required training in a self-paced environment

  • Maintain additional off-site training as required

Adhere to Policy and Procedures

  • Responsible for compliance with bank policies, procedures, and operational integrity.

  • No findings from internal audit

  • Must meet all required training

  • No compliance violations

Qualifications

Supervisory Responsibilities

No supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

5 years of experience in financial institution environment

High School Diploma or GED required

College credits preferred

Banking certifications a plus, but not required

Prior flood insurance experience is highly preferred

Prior work experience with a title company or law firm is desirable

Knowledge in the requirements of the Flood Disaster Protection Act and all implementing regulations preferred

Language Skills

Ability to read and analyze complex information, and interpret insurance policies, periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to effectively present written and verbal information and respond to inquiries from bank associates and third-party vendors.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Other Skills and Abilities

Ability to handle multiple tasks in a time sensitive environment. Must be detail oriented and organized.
