Processes

Technician should confirm site access before dispatching to the site by calling 866-750-2500 opt 2-2 during business hours

Job start times will be at 5:00 PM local time as required be Verizon for install and BER testing. Some sites will allow earlier start times. If the site does allow earlier start time, please advise. Migration start times will be 8:00 PM or Midnight depending on the circuit.

Migrations will consist of four parts; Site survey, Install, BER Test, and Migration.

1. Site survey: Locate equipment noted in the ECD and complete the FRL (Fiber Run List) provided. Determine fibers needed. Notify Ciena so they can have the fibers shipped out. New fibers are shown in blue line. See example ECD below.

When on site, locate equipment noted in the ECD and FRL

Verify that all info on the ECD is correct. i.e. NE, TID, RR, SH, SL numbers.

Determine new fiber needed, length and connector type. It is extremely important to visually verify the entire path of each fiber run to get a correct measurement and to identify any patch panels that may have been overlooked. And, extremely important to get the correct connector type, see examples below. A narrative of the path would be helpful as well.

Document fiber requirements on the FRL verbiage tab. See example below

Complete a markup for each circuit on its individual circuit tab on the FRL. See example below

Identify all fibers, connections, and cut points on the markup

Take pictures of all equipment, connector types, fiber path etc. Please re-size pictures before sending

Send an email to LTS PMO & Ciena PMO with the required information, fiber length, connector type, etc. so fiber jumpers can be ordered.

1. Site surveys as part of any site visit

Scope:

o Key NOTE: Fiber list will be provided by remote networking engineering team

o Trace existing fibers to validate/document To/From details

o Assess new fiber path To/From details

Fiber length

Fiber connector type

Assess any infrastructure aspects (between cages, rooms, etc.)

Deliverables:

o Standard site survey deliverables such as: Completed and validated form that is provided by the Ledcor team/documentation on fiber route

Using spreadsheet template provided by Ciena engineering

Pictures of relevant to/from equipment

Results of fiber tracing and any issues or discrepancies

Any fiber path/route directions or concerns

Scheduling:

o Managed Jointly between Ledcor and Ciena

2. Pre-wire and pre-test (per site/recommended number of sites based on spreadsheet data)

Scope:

o Run, label, clean, scope and test fibers for the new path

o Perform continuity test with remote tester

o It is expected that this scope will be performed in the same deployment time period of execution for migration scope; i.e. run the fibers one day and migrate the next.

Deliverables:

o Updated fiber run list if there are any changes

o Fiber scope results for each fiber (should be done using FAST)

o Cleaned, scoped, tested and labeled fibers in place ready for migration

o The Pre-wire and pre-test will likely take place in the days leading up to the migration

o Use excel to determine the number of fibers at each site

3. Migration Scope:

o During a 2 to 6-hour MW, disconnect existing fiber and connect new fiber at the direction of remote engineer

Scheduling:

o Assume 2 techs per team per MW

o Assume 2 to 3 teams per MW in parallel and in different regions
