Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) is the provider of AESA Radar Systems which provide the war fighter with the most accurate and timely information available for the network-centric battlefield. The Systems Engineering Integration and Test Center (SEIT) organization is seeking committed engineering leaders who are passionate about creating innovative and cost-effective solutions for the warfighter.
We are seeking a candidate with strong leadership and flight test experience as a Flight Test Planner, Flight Test Systems Engineer, and Mission Director to become a member of the Tactical Radar Systems Department as a Flight Test Planner and Mission Director within the Systems Engineering Integration and Test Center.
Primary responsibilities for this position include:
Translating test project technical requirements into executable flight tests
Authoring and editing flight test and safety plans
Supporting customer Technical Review Boards and Safety Review Boards
Completing laser safety planning (DoD, FAA, and Laser Clearinghouse)
Coordinating and scheduling test activities with major Test Ranges
Creating test profiles
Developing test matrices, mission flows, and card decks for test missions
Directing test missions as a Mission Director aboard the Raytheon Multi-Program Testbed or other Raytheon platforms
Generating quick look reports and flight test summary reports
Additional responsibilities for this position include:
Analyzing system requirements and defining testing criteria of the requirements at the software and system level
Troubleshooting flight systems, computer systems, software problems, and networking connectivity issues
Interface with system hardware and software teams to resolve technical issues during the integration and testing phases.
Analyzing avionics and flight data products and draft reports for presentation
Performing post flight data processing, flight video editing, and rendering
Performing detailed analysis of flight and laboratory test data
Overall this position will support flight test for major AESA, Gen 5/6, EO/IR, and SAS development programs. Ideal candidates for this requisition should possess an engineering degree and have direct flight test and mission planning experience. A 1-step higher salary grade will be considered for the right candidate.
4+ years of relevant flight test experience
6+ years of relevant engineering experience
Familiarity with systems flight test planning, safety planning, test techniques, and test conduct
Ability to multi-task and problem-solve while working in high paced, high demand laboratory and flight test environments
Ability to effectively interface with senior-level leaders, external customers, end users & analysts
Ability to work flexible non-standard hours (ie 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and weekends) on an occasional basis in support of laboratory and flight tests
Ability to hold an FAA Class III medical certificate
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
Active Secret or higher Security Clearance with the ability to obtain SAP/SAR clearances
Willing to travel on occasion to CONUS flight test sites
Strongly desired experience with radar systems
Strong desire to learn, take initiative and contribute in a team-oriented environment
Control room experience (especially as test director or test conductor)
Strong aviation background to include professional (military or civil) and/or private flight experience
Familiarity with aircraft flight operations, aviation terminology, and radio procedures
Experience with system-level IV&V of hardware and software products, engineering principles, and work products
Ability or aptitude to troubleshoot flight test systems, computer systems, software, and networking connectivity issues
Experience with developing analysis tools and performing data analysis
Experience with relevant computer systems and languages (i.e. ForeFlight, MATLAB, MS Office, Python, C++, Java, Linux)
MS in Engineering, Math, Computer Science, or Physics with emphasis in computer systems
Graduate of USAF TPS, USNTPS, NTPS, Empire TPS, or EPNER (or equivalent flight test engineer curriculum)
