Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Flight Operations Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This leadership role is located in Palmdale, CA.

The selected candidate will have the responsibility of leading a group of technical and professional staff in a high-paced environment. Key responsibilities include:

  • Serving as a homeroom manager for various administrative support positions to include Flight Schedulers, Flight Operations Coordinators, Project Managers, and Training Representatives

  • Managing Aircrew Flight Equipment Shop for multiple programs ensuring compliance with various regulations and guidance

  • Managing flight line schedule and de-conflicting program flight line activity

  • Coordinating program schedules with PL 42 Airspace Management, EAFB Scheduling, and R2508 Range

  • Coordinating with AFP 42 Airfield Management on airfield status and changes. Attend quarterly AFP42 Airfield Operations Board Meetings

  • Managing the AFP 42 NGC Airfield Driving Program

  • De-Conflicting flight line maintenance and facilities construction activities with program flight line activities

  • Providing Frequency Management support

  • Coordinating resources for test support aircraft (i.e. King Air Chase Aircraft)

  • Coordinating with Corporate Shuttle Operations and transient aircraft for scheduled arrivals and departures and access to Site 3, Site 4, and Site 7 ramps

  • Enforcing flight line protocols and safe conduct of operations

  • Developing and maintaining a procedure/guide book for programs

  • Performance of daily FOD inspections; identifying and mitigating potential hazards due to flight ops, ramp maintenance, or construction

  • Providing adequate flight line infrastructure resources to support production and developmental test, i.e. flight line communications infrastructure, grounding points, and engine run spots, etc.

  • Identifying flight line infrastructure improvements to support current and future operations

Hybrid/Telecommute/Remote is not an option for this position. This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80, Monday-Friday. The manager may be required to work second shift and weekends as needed throughout the year.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree & a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; 7 years with a Masters; 5 years with a PhD

  • Minimum of 5 years flight operations experience

  • Prior leadership/managing experience

  • Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)

  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

  • Experience interfacing with government and military personnel

Salary Range: $125,500.00 - $188,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
