The ERJ Flight Instructor reports to the Program Manager, ERJ. An air transportation flight instructor is an airman designated by a 14 CFR Part 121 certificate holder, who has the appropriate training, experience, and demonstrated ability to instruct other airmen in a curriculum segment of that certificate holder's training program. An air transportation flight instructor may certify the proficiency and knowledge of other airmen and recommend them for proficiency or competency checks, proficiency checks leading to certification and other special qualification flight checks.


  • Treat all pilots professionally and with respect throughout their training curriculum

  • Maintain the highest degree of knowledge and subject matter mastery of appropriate FARs, aircraft systems, the OM and FOM; understand and foster the development of training concepts through CRM/TEM principles

  • Conduct training in an FTD or FFS as assigned

  • Instruct pilots as directed by the Program Manager, ERJ and the guidance found in the Flight Instructor Training Manual

  • Participate in instructor development and calibration classes

  • Make recommendations for improvements to the training program and/or SOPs based on observable safety concerns


  • Maintain current, qualified status as a Captain or participate in a line observation program

  • One year experience as a Captain at ExpressJet Airlines

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

  • Satisfactory work history

  • Successfully complete the AQP Instructor/ Evaluator qualification course or Instructor/ Evaluator Transition course (as applicable)


  • Previous experience as a Flight Instructor (Simulator) at ExpressJet Airlines

  • Currently hold or have previously held a Flight Instructor or Ground Instructor certificate

Additional Information

External applicants:

  • Must successfully complete ExpressJet Pilot Initial training

  • Must possess an FAA commercial pilot certificate with multiengine privileges

  • Must be eligible for the issuance of an Airline Transport Pilot certificate

  • An FAA medical certificate is not required

  • An FAA flight instructor certificate is not required

Successful external applicants will be entitled to:

  • Hired directly into the ExpressJet training department and will be issued both pilot and flight instructor seniority numbers.

  • Starting pay of First year Captain Pay + $18/hour with a 90 hour minimum monthly guarantee

  • Pay progression in accordance with the ExpressJet Pilot Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)

  • Pilot benefits in accordance with the ExpressJet Pilot Collective Bargaining Agreement

Job Summary Position responsible for serving in a leadership role and as a clinical expert in the delivery and management of patient care and is cross-trained to competently care for patients from multiple services/specialties with more complex diagnosis. Job Description Memorial Hermann Life Flight is a critical care air medical transport service based in Houston, Texas. We serve the community within a 150-mile radius of the Texas Medical Center with helicopters and worldwide using fixed-wing transport. We are the only hospital-based air ambulance serving Houston and surrounding communities. Founded in 1976 by James "Red" Duke, M.D. the service operates around the clock – weather permitting – 24-hours a day, 365 days a year. Crews perform more than 3,000 missions each year, making the John S. Dunn Helistop one of the busiest helipads in the world. Since its inaugural flight, Memorial Hermann Life Flight has flown more than 140,000 missions. Learn about the program's history. Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS), Life Flight is Houston's only hospital-based air medical service. Each flight is staffed by highly skilled personnel and equipped advanced emergency equipment and necessary medications, and can transport up to two patients. The Memorial Hermann Life Flight staff consists of 21 pilots, 21 flight nurses, 18 paramedics/dispatchers and eight mechanics. Each helicopter is inspected and serviced daily. * Strong preference given to candidates with their TX State Paramedic license and NREMT. Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing; Bachelors of Nursing preferred Licenses/Certification: * Current State of Texas license to practice as Registered Professional Nurse * Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS required; TNCC or CCRN preferred * Required to obtain within 18 months of hire: audit ATLS, obtain CFRN & NRP and State of Texas Department of Health license or certification as a paramedic (EMT-P/LP) Experience / Knowledge / Skills: * Minimum three (3) years of experience as a registered nurse in critical care and/or emergency department, preferably in a Level One Trauma Center * Preference to intra-system applicants * Maintains current state of physical and mental well being * Able to lift at least 50 pounds * Physically fit to lift, bend, and twist * Able perform job responsibilities in confined areas and /or differing environments * Standard aircraft seat belts will fit without alterations * Able to function in the cabin of an aircraft without physical restrictions * Meets weight requirements of less than 240 pounds in uniform * Demonstrates commitment to the Partners-in-Caring process by integrating our culture in all internal and external customer interactions; delivers on our brand promise of "we advance health" through innovation, accountability, empowerment, collaboration, compassion and results while ensuring one Memorial Hermann.
