Our client, a last-mile electric vehicle sharing company dedicated to bringing safe, low-cost, environmentally-friendly transportation solutions to communities across the world. We provide a fleet of electric, shared scooters that can be accessed via smartphone. We are Headquartered in Venice, California and are rapidly expanding across the country and the world.
Field Operations Specialists are passionate about making cities easier to navigate. This team works closely with technology to monitor, re-balance, and maintain our scooters in the field to ensure a safe, available ride is always nearby. It is a dynamic role that offers a breadth of activities and responsibilities that shift based on the fluid needs of each city we serve. This role is key to helping grow and maintain our fleet and directly impacts millions of riders who rely on our service.
Full-time and part-time opportunities are available for early morning and day shifts.

What You'll Do:

Work with local operation teammates to ensure scooters are distributed throughout the city in the right places at the right times for riders
Patrol service areas and inspect and identify scooters that are in need of repair and maintenance
Use technology and software to log fleet activity and data that will help optimize fleet performance
Operate vans, e-trikes, or scooters to move and monitor scooters across the service area
Collect and re-balance scooters gathered at popular destination points
Move improperly parked scooters back to suggested parking areas
Perform light field repairs and field diagnostics to aid in upkeep of the fleet
Collaborate with other teammates as well as work autonomously

What You'll Need:

Passion for Bird and working in a high growth environment
A smartphone and comfort using technology
Valid drivers license and ability to pass motor vehicle record check preferred
Ability to use basic hand tools and lift 40 pounds up to 3 feet of the ground
Excellent time management and organization skills
Flexible availability and willingness to regularly work on weekends
Ability to be both self-directed and work well in a team environment
Military Veterans highly desired
Great for recent grads or anyone looking for a first time job

Performs a variety of moderately complex to complex duties repairing and maintaining a wide range of complex equipment and vehicles such as solid waste vehicles, construction equipment, bucket trucks, transit buses and others. Selection Process: Applicants whose education, training and experience most closely meet the needs of this position may be invited to participate in a selection process to include oral board interview and skills assessment. Final selection is contingent upon a background check which includes: * Fingerprinting * Criminal background screening * Motor Vehicle Department records check * Drug Screen This position has been re-posted on 11/26/18 in order to allow for enough qualified candidates to apply. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience * A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent. * Must possess training, education and experience equivalent to five years in diverse automotive, heavy-duty truck and equipment or transit bus mechanics and maintenance. Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements * Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted Arizona driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. * Must possess and maintain throughout tenure, four ASE mechanic certifications. * Must possess, and maintain in working condition throughout tenure, a complete set of hand and power tools in compliance with the Fleet Minimum Inventory Requirement. Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on department/section assignment. Essential Functions Performs duties and responsibilities commensurate with assigned functional area which may include, but are not limited to, any combination of the following tasks: * Diagnoses and repairs malfunctions on a variety of systems. * Performs skilled repairs and maintenance on a variety of gasoline, diesel, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and alternative fuel powered equipment such as solid waste trucks, construction equipment, bucket trucks, backhoe/loaders, street sweepers, police patrol vehicles, fire apparatus, light duty vehicles and other equipment. * Disassembles components, inspects parts for wear, repairs, replaces, overhauls, rebuilds and adjusts components. * Re-wires ignition systems, lights and instrument panels. * Adjusts air and hydraulic brakes. * Repairs front ends. * Repairs gasoline, diesel, CNG and alternative fuel engines. * Maintains and repairs hydraulic systems. * Tunes and performs repairs on gasoline, diesel, CNG and alternative fuel engine powered equipment. * Performs preventive maintenance on equipment on a regular schedule. * Supports other mechanics and is a team player by helping other personnel with their job duties and training on use of tools or equipment. * Uses a computer for Fleet operations and as a reference source. * Is assisted by Fleet Technician I and Technician III as needed. Renders assistance as required.
