The Senior Fleet Technician performs a wide range of services to diagnose and repair District fleet units including cars, trucks, and diesel engines. As resident expert, provides technical direction and leadership to service staff, including sound judgment and superior decision making.
The Big Cypress Basin Field Station is responsible for 43 structures, 150.2 miles of canals, 3 recharge back pumps and 3 pump stations in Collier County. Having a Fleet Technician
This position requires participation in the Pumping Operations Program as either a Pump Station Assistant (PSA) or a Pump Station Operator (PSO) at any time during your employment. As a non-pump station employee you will receive training so that you can provide assistance to the pump station crews during any pumping operations needed whether during normal work shifts, extended day or evening shifts, weekends, or holidays, etc. Both the PSA and PSO positions require intense training and mastery of controls and operations of each pump station.
This position is subject to random mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

Thursday from 6:30 am
High School Diploma or GED and 6+ years experience performing senior level repair work.
Valid State of Florida Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required without restriction to operate vehicle equipped with a manual transmission is required to road test heavy equipment.
Ability to obtain certification in Forklift Operations, Overhead Crane, First Aid and CPR.
Maintain a total of eight (8) valid ASE certifications between the following two (2) specialties: automotive: Engine Repair, Automatic transmission/transaxle, manual drive train and axle, suspension and steering, brakes, electrical/electronic system, heating & air conditioning, engine performance.
Medium/Heavy Truck: Gasoline engine, diesel engine, drive train, brakes, suspension and steering, electrical/electronic system, heating & air conditioning, preventative maintenance inspection.
Physical Requirements/ Working Environment
Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during, and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
