Summary

Under general supervision, interacts with departments to evaluate vehicle service needs, and additional needed services to write up the repair order. Responsible for a high level of customer interaction as well as coordinating repair order completion with the heavy-duty shop, auto shop, and parts warehouse.

  • Determines service needs based on customer consultation, vehicle/equipment walk-around, and technician diagnosis.

  • Communicates frequently with heavy-duty shop, auto shop, and parts warehouse to monitor and report timely completion of work.

  • Maintains contact with customers regarding any changes in the expected delivery time.

  • Follow up with customers on the status of their vehicles and equipment.

  • Demonstrates product knowledge to educate customers on service maintenance requirements.

  • Advocates for accountable and responsible use and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.

  • Coordinates and schedules planned vehicle maintenance.

  • Opens, monitors, updates, and closes shop work orders in fleet management software.

  • Prepares weekly status reports and the monthly billing reports for maintenance and repairs completed.

  • Assist Shop Foreman in managing technician productivity and workflow.

  • Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Combination of education or experience equivalent to an Associates Degree in Business Administration, Automotive technology or similar

  • Three years of experience working vehicle service industry, customer service, or service writing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in or with a governmental agency

  • Basic skill level with Microsoft Office products (excel, word, power point)

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Driver's License
