MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN II Serco Fleet Services
The Maintenance Technician II (MT2) is a journeyman class technician whose duties and responsibilities are technical in nature requiring a broad mechanical skills base with a proclivity for problem solving within established operational guidelines.
The MT2 is analytical organized and detail oriented able to think in the abstract applying theoretical concepts, sensory data, accepted industry practices and past experiences to affect appropriate cost effective maintenance and repair actions. The MT2 is highly adaptable able to perform their duties professionally under general supervision either in a controlled setting or from remote locations under adverse conditions.
The MT2 may perform in a lead role organizing and assigning work tasks to other technicians. The MT2 may require supervision in some assignments they are free to develop their own work sequences within established procedures, methods and policies. They are generally subject to periodic supervisory checks.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES (but not limited to):
Primary duties of the MT2 include operational and functional inspections, repairs and maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment to include automobiles and light trucks, medium and heavy trucks and line construction and support equipment within defined program guidelines.
The MT2 performs repair and maintenance operations on a variety of powered and non-powered equipment and vehicles to include, but not limited to, cranes, backhoes, trailers, trenchers, diggers and pole setting equipment, aerial manlifts, medium and heavy trucks and mounted/non-mounted attachments. Diagnosis maintains and repairs hydraulic systems, routes and replaces hydraulic lines; checks system for leaks and proper operation. Performs routine vehicle and equipment preventive maintenance inspections checking and replaces fluids, checks lights and other electrical system components, etc.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent, vocational/technical training in automotive repair with three to five years verifiable heavy truck and equipment repair experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities and may include the following:
Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
ASE Master Technician certifications preferred
Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Level Certification
Fluid Power Mobile Hydraulic Technician Certification preferred
