Fleet Mechanic

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly

Essential Job Functions:

• Regularly inspects and maintains Heavy Equipment to include but not limited to; Excavators, Front end loaders, Backhoes, Skid steers, Telehandlers, and Man lifts, to ensure all are in working and safe condition

• Regularly inspects and maintains Fleet vehicles to include, but not limited to; 1 Ton, ¾ ton and ½ Ton pickups, Vans and SUVs with both gas and diesel engines

• Regularly inspects and maintains Heavy Fleet vehicles to include but not limited to; Semi-tractors, Dump trucks, Bucket trucks, and Boom trucks

• Manages parts inventory to ensure an adequate supply of replacement and preventative maintenance parts and fluids

Required Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma, or Equivalent

• Two (2) years' experience with light duty vehicels

• Three (3) years' experience with heavy equipment in the oilfield, preferred

• Current and valid driver license with a clean driving record

Required Education, Training & Certificates:

• OSHA 10 certificate or ability to obtain upon hire

• H2S certificate or ability to obtain upon hire

• Attends training sessions, seminars and appropriate educational classes required by department

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Knowledge of mechanical and maintenance processes and procedures

• Knowledge of mechanical tools and equipment

• Ability to implement mechanical knowledge and skills

• Ability to recognize and respond to dangerous situations or emergencies

• Ability to diagnose system malfunctions, locate cause of breakdown and correct the problem or recommend solution

• Ability to set and balance priorities in order to complete projects on time

• Ability to make decisions and recommend appropriate course of action in difficult situations

• Ability to communicate effectively as a supervisor both verbal and written

• Ability to handle stress and possess positive trait even in difficult or challenging situations

• General knowledge of dianostic computer software and basic computer skills for the purpose of maintenance data entry

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and may require use of ear plugs on occasion. Work condition is outside environment (job site/field site) that may have inclement weather conditions. The incumbent is exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles and equipment.
