Easterseals NH is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to be part of the Transportation program! The individual in this key position will demonstrate a high sense of urgency; practice excellent verbal and written communication skills, and have a remarkable degree of diplomacy. The Fleet Manager will possess outstanding administrative, analytical, organizational, planning, and time-management proficiencies, while exhibiting exceptional supervisory and management skills, along with excellent interpersonal communication abilities that inspire others.

The individual in this role will consistently show a steadfast commitment to safety, display the capability to mediate conflict, find effective solutions, and foster strong connections within the team and across the agency. The Fleet Manager will possess a robust understanding of fleet operations and KPI's, and be able to apply expert knowledge of vehicle maintenance to daily operations. Individuals should be able to prove adaptability to change, embrace propensity for continuous improvement, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and oversee all maintenance performed by Fleet Mechanic (s) and Compliance Manager/ Fleet Service Team Leader, and or Service Writer. Ensure quality repairs of all completed work.

  • Ensure mechanic(s) are properly trained in the use of all shop support equipment and certified on those requiring a certification such as air conditioning repair. Ensure all equipment is kept in proper working order and secured in a safe location.

  • Oversee all fleet vehicles for overall condition to include mechanical, electrical, body and special equipment such as wheelchair lifts and school bus standards. Assure all vehicles are roadworthy when in service.

  • Oversee transportation maintenance facility. Assure compliance with all state and federal EPA rules and regulations. Ensure facility maintains all local and state requirements for a certified state safety inspection station. Ensure compliance with all phases of lease agreement, if applicable.

  • Ensure vehicles are prepared and ready for the successful completion of all state safety inspections and the annual Department of Transportation school bus inspection and evaluation as outlined by the Department of Safety.

  • Maintain all maintenance and safety records as required by state and federal programs. Oversee review of all daily pre-operational inspection forms and insure maintenance is provided as required and forms are maintained for the proper time period. Complete all required paper work for vehicle registration and procure same as required. Maintain all records and assessments for vehicle replacement plan.

  • Maintain record keeping system including computer-based data and required hard copy records to reflect all vehicle repairs, vehicle inventory, shop inventory and purchase order history. Establish and administer an effective preventative maintenance program. Coordinate daily work activity and vehicle requirements with operations manager and dispatch. Ensure all external work is properly recorded and logged as required.

  • Assist with the implementation of agency technology into daily operations to improve efficiency and access to information. Work with Senior Team Leader and Transportation management team to improve automation of information. Work with Director and Easterseals IT to consider changes to existing software use and deployment should a change in existing platforms be needed.

  • Respond to the scene of vehicle accidents to assess damage and gather information. Coordinate the accident investigation and process. Serve as a liaison to insurance agents when physical/property damage is involved.

  • Maintain information for risk management goals and objectives.

  • Manage and monitor all fleet service accounts. Communicate with vendors regarding service quality and efficiency and maintain the most cost-efficient qualified vendors.

  • Oversee driver education program as it relates to maintenance.

  • Provide training and professional development for garage staff, drivers and agency programs as needed.

  • Participate as an active member of the STS management team.

Qualifications:

  • High School Degree

  • ASE certified mechanic

  • Five (5) years-related experience in fleet or transit field

  • Ability to administer, manage, organize and maintain a cost-effective vehicle maintenance program

  • Administrative and computer operation skills

  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Ability to work well with a diverse staff

  • Will be required to obtain the necessary permits or licenses for the position

  • Possess or be able to obtain a valid NH-CDL w/P endorsement

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

  • College, technical degree or knowledge of equipment and industry standards preferred Managerial background with experience in the transportation industry is preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to learn regulations, including, but not limited to DOT and FMCSA standards and codes as they apply to the transportation industry.

Compensation: Starting $62,500 annually.

Hours: This is a full-time, salaried position.
