MOS: 2T357 (Air Force), V60B (Navy)

Education and Experience:Thirty (30) college credit hours or higher in automotive technology, management, business or public administration or related field, and eight (8) years in the maintenance of buildings or automotive equipment, including three (3) years of supervisory experience.

Licenses and Certificates: Some positions may require a Texas Class "B" Commercial Driver's License.

Special Requirements: Positions requiring a CDL or positions of a safety sensitive nature are subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with federal regulation.

General Purpose

Under general direction, oversee, manage and direct the daily operation of fleet, equipment, facility and land maintenance.

Typical Duties

Plan, assign and direct the maintenance and repair of automotive and construction equipment.Involves:Administer through subordinate personnel the operation of the fueling and parts storage areas.Plan and implement preventative maintenance programs for all automotive and construction equipment.Allocate personnel, materials and other resources to balance work flow and ensure availability of vehicles and construction equipment.Dispatch field assistance to disabled vehicles and equipment.Resolve complaints related to repair priorities and/or delays.Direct and coordinate the assignment of equipment operators and heavy construction equipment to construction crews engaged in the installation, maintenance and repair of construction projects.Inspects work in the field during operations and upon completion.Oversee the operation of the Fueling Station and Parts Storage.Ensure proper procurement procedures are followed in the procuring of fuels, lubricants and spare parts.Ensure compliance with all environmental as well as occupational health and safety regulations related to the handling, usage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals and waste.Ensure user departments are properly charged for completed work orders.

Plan, assign and direct the maintenance and repair of buildings.Involves: Plan, assign and coordinate maintenance and repair of evaporative and refrigerated air conditioning, heater units and related HVAC equipment.Direct and coordinate the installation of building equipment such as boilers, chillers, pumps and other associated machinery.Conduct inspection of buildings, facilities and surrounding areas.Recommend modifications or repairs.Inspect lands and irrigation ditches.Coordinate cleanup of weeds and vegetation growth.Inspects work in progress and recommends adjustment of personnel assigned to work order to ensure timely quality completion of work orders.Maintain all buildings and lands.

Completes administrative duties as assigned.Involves:Prepare annual budget projections and justifications for the annual budget for Fleet Maintenance, Equipment Operations and Building Maintenance Sections.Prepare annual budget and justification for replacement of automotive and construction equipment.Prepare specifications for the purchase of automotive and construction equipment.Evaluate bids and prepare recommendations for awarding of Janitorial Services, ditch maintenance contracts, and automotive and equipment purchases.Assist and support Accounting Department with updating rental rates on vehicles and construction equipment, distribution of labor and material costs to departments served.Respond to vehicle accidents and other vehicle damage claims in order to assess vehicle damages and provide technical advice to management.

Supervise assigned personnel.Involves:Meet with supervisory and general staff on regularly scheduled basis.Oversee operational activities.Prioritize and coordinate sectional activities.Instruct, review, guide and check work.Appraise employee performance of supervisory staff and review evaluations by supervisors.Provide training and development.Enforce personnel rules, regulations, and work and safety standards.Counsel, motivate and maintain harmony.Interview applicants. Recommend hires, terminations, transfers, disciplinary action, merit pay or other employee status change.
