Responsible for the direct supervision over laborers/craft workers, or be responsible for the organization, work methods, scheduling, cost control, conformity with drawings and specification, workmanship, and assignment of work to accomplish economic and expeditious execution of the work either directly or through General Foreman or Foreman. This level is capable of managing projects generally in a range of $5 million to $30 million in size and with a minimum of 10 years total experience. Typical position titles include Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent, Unit/Area Superintendent, and Craft or Business Type Superintendent.
Responsibilities
Direct day-to-day on-site supervision of field labor force
Inspection of Contractor or Subcontractor operations to ensure compliance with contract.
Review and approve Trade Contractor Payment Applications with the Project Manager
Maintain good relationships with internal and external clients, including representatives of Owner and Architect/Engineer
Develop and maintain a site logistics plan, in coordination with the Project Manager
Conduct quality inspections.
Coordinate site testing and inspection efforts.
Monitor costs, including labor time and material.
Communicate and enforce OHL Safety and Health Management Program
Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through personal actions and mentoring others.
Manage schedules, including preparation of detailed short-term schedules and ensuring all activities take place on or ahead of scheduled dates.
Prepare and submit Superintendent's Daily Reports
Attend and participate in project meetings, including subcontractor meetings.
Qualifications
10+ years of Heavy Civil Construction experience.
4-year Engineering Degree or equivalent work experience.
Must be safety oriented; OSHA-10 and OSHA-30 Certification required.
Strong background with FDOT projects preferred.
Ability to supervise Forman and lead by example.
Familiarity with terms and conditions of Project Contracts, Subcontracts, and Purchase Orders
Strong ability to read drawings and specifications.
Equipment management experience.
Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Exhibits strong leadership qualities.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish preferred but not required.
