The Department of Radiation Oncology in the School of Medicine at UNC-Chapel Hill invites applications for a fixed-term faculty position (rank dependent on qualifications) whose principal assignment will be at the Wake/Johnston County division. We cover 5 sites in Raleigh, Clayton, and Smithfield, NC, including Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

We are an academic-minded practice and participate in multiple tumor boards each week. We have HDR brachytherapy, linac-based SRS, and SBRT. Within our system we have a robust clinical research program, enrolling patients on both national and UNC trials.

We are seeking highly-qualified and personable candidates. All physicians in our group are UNC-Chapel Hill faculty under Dr. Lawrence B.

Marks, Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology. We welcome applications from both new graduates as well as experienced physicians. Applicants must possess a MD degree with subspecialty training in Radiation Oncology.

Duties include, but are not limited to, oversight of inpatient and home hospice operations including weekly team meetings, supervision of advanced practice providers, and direct care of hospice patients, compliance with hospice regulations, and development and implementation of medical plan of care for patients. In addition to hospice medical director, the faculty member will have an academic appointment and will perform clinical, education or research work in the clinical area of their training. Qualified candidates will possess broad medical knowledge and demonstrated excellence in medical practice, formal training or relevant experience in hospice and/or clinical palliative care, and excellent interpersonal communication skills with patients and caregivers. Candidates will have board certification in primary area of practice of internal medicine. Effective communication skills with referring professionals, including written documentation as well as verbal communication, are essential. Successful candidates will have training, skills and motivation necessary for interdisciplinary team collaboration in expanding palliative care and hospice services for seriously ill patients in diverse settings.Doctor of Medicine degree or Doctor of Osteopathy Medicine degree from an accredited institution. · Completion of Residency Program Preferred. · Fellowship and/or training in palliative care and hospice preferred or equivalent comparable experience (1-3 years) in the treatment of terminally ill patients. · Board certification/Board Eligible in Internal Medicine. · Board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine preferred. · HPNA certification preferred Licensure/Certification Requirements. · Valid drivers license and proof of automobile insurance.
