We are currently seeking to recruit a Research Associate (RA) to join our Investment Research Group. Based in Boston, this individual will focus on investment grade credits in a number of industries. As part of the Investment Grade Credit Research team, the RA will work directly with Investment Grade Credit Analysts to conduct fundamental research and support the credit analysts' research agenda. The ideal candidate will help build and maintain complex financial models, and assist in developing and effectively communicating investment recommendations that add value to client portfolios. In addition, the RA will interact with several Portfolio Managers, Traders and other analysts across our global investment platform.


Responsibilities for this position will include the following:

  • Assisting in the creation and maintenance of detailed financial models and industry databases to aid in analyzing existing and prospective investments;

  • Maintaining integrity of issuer data and analyses, and comparative valuation tools;

  • Conducting analyses of financial results with the credit analyst

  • Monitoring and listening to relevant news, announcements, and conference calls;

  • Attending internal and external investment meetings; and

  • Contributing to the research agenda of coverage area and to written research and maintenance reports on companies.


A successful candidate should have the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 13 years of buy-side or sell-side research, investment banking, or other relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated interest in and passion for investing in fixed income; a strong desire to analyze credit investment opportunities is required;

  • An undergraduate degree with a strong academic record; progress towards or completion of the CFA is a plus;

  • Strong analytical and communication skills (both written and oral);

  • Demonstrated analytical capability and financial modeling skills;

  • Proven organizational and time management skills as well as ability to work well under pressure;

  • Strict attention to detail and strong work ethic;

  • Curiosity, a capacity for differentiated thinking and perspective, and a growth mindset; and

  • Ability to take risk and try new things.

Responsibilities * Act as product owner for a subset of the fixed income product line, leading product advocacy efforts to drive market share gains. Conduct research and analysis to understand the marketplace, competitors, and advisor/client needs and develop effective strategies to highlight and capitalize on competitive advantages. Represent strategies to the sales organization and the mutual fund boards through the development of written materials and delivery of messages through multiple media. * Partner with Client Portfolio Managers and the Investment Teams in representing strategies to prospects and clients, bringing product expertise and investment acumen. Set performance expectations for products and assess performance results versus expectations, benchmarks, and peers. Evaluate and recommend product changes. * Work with the marketing group, develop marketing collateral including presentations, RFP/database content, and other relevant materials required to describe and position assigned strategies and teams. * Perform other duties as required, which may include activities such as supporting new product development activities, providing input into other product team projects and initiatives, and contribute to Thought Leadership pieces. Required Qualifications * Bachelors degree. * Previous relevant experience working with financial advisors [our clients]. * A solid understanding of basic fixed income terms and concepts. * FINRA Series 7, and Series 63/65 or Series 66 with ability to obtain within 90 days. * Ability to influence and collaborate with or lead across the organization and at all levels to drive results. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills using data to identify trends and issues and potential ways to solve the issue. * Experience with assigned product including understanding of compliance rules and regulations for product and industry. * Project management experience.
