Ensuring Chart's Success

  • Leaders should promote a culture of safety in everything they do. They should be the inspiration and guide for employees to follow.

  • Understand Chart Industries quality standards and what is and is not acceptable.

  • Be qualified in the areas that you will be leading. (i.e.: welders/fitters familiar with welding/fitting tests, yard leadermen be knowledgeable of all machinery in their area)

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be

  • Assist foreman in getting crew set-up for daily tasks. This includes making an assignment list, communicating daily/weekly goals, and making sure drawing & materials are ready. Stay ahead of your crew with drawings & materials.

  • Report daily goal progress to foreman at the end of each shift.

  • Keep track of drawings and take care of them to ensure they don't get lost or damaged

  • Make sure company tools are being taken care of and used correctly. Report all tools/equipment to maintenance that needs repair.

  • Assist foreman with inspecting the work area at the end of shift. Ensure that lines/cords/hoses are disconnected and rolled up, if necessary. Ensure that gas lines and power are turned off and all tools are returned to their proper place.

  • Filling in and assuming the foreman's duties when he is absent. This includes knowing what those duties include.

  • Help foreman with daily paperwork. (Tracking daily fitting/welding assignments and updating spreadsheets. Pick up job percentage reports each day.)

  • Help foreman plan the work for the week and prepare materials for upcoming jobs.

  • Understand and communicate goals for testing, delivery/completion dates.

  • Coordinating materials & supplies with project managers.

  • Add'l duties and responsibilities may be assigned

Your Professional Experience Should Be

  • Understand Chart Industries quality standards and what is and is not acceptable.

  • Be qualified in the areas that you will be leading. (i.e.: welders/fitters familiar with welding/fitting tests, yard leadermen be knowledgeable of all machinery in their area)

  • Be able to read and understand weld/fitting procedures, shop standards, WPS's, OSWI's & work instructions. Be capable of instructing employees on where to find them, how to read them, and how to use them correctly.

  • Assist foreman in making sure work is being performed correctly. This includeschecking fitting and welds as well as confirming use of correct wire.

  • Be able to spot common problems (defects) and know the proper way to address or correct.

  • Understand repair procedures, when to apply, and how to start one.

  • Explain the difference between the AWS D1.1, D1.6, ASME Section VIII, IX and B31.3 to crew members when required. *

  • Check fits/welds made prior to fitting/welding and be able to instruct proper techniques.

  • Be able to evaluate the work and skill of those you lead.

  • Be the front line in ensuring quality is achieved on all jobs. Find and correct any potential issues before it is allowed to leave your area. Be proud of the work your crew has done.

Your Education Should Be

  • High school and/or technical program

  • 5-7 yrs minimumexperience in related field

  • Blueprint reading required

  • Knowledge of shop math preferred

  • Education may be substituted by extended experience

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require

  • Know emergency procedures, contacts, and documentation needed in emergency situations.

  • Recognize potential safety issues with equipment in your area, know how to inspect the equipment and how to remedy a potential safety situation.

  • Know proper lifting & rigging procedures for our type of work. *

  • Ensure that the work area is safe and clean
