Deliver a wide range of installation youth fitness, health, and outreach programs in multiple Child, Youth Services (CYS) settings.
Develops and maintains and partnerships with schools and community organizations to enhance CYS fitness and health programs.
Within an existing curriculum, develops and implements lesson plans and appropriate environments that incorporate a broad range of fitness and health activities for early childhood, school age, and youth program participants.
Provides training, observation, and feedback to CYS staff on fitness and health initiatives, such as weight training, sports conditioning, functional fitness, basic nutrition, motor skills, or other specialized programs for various ages and fitness levels.
Maintains control of and accountability for all attending children and youth.
Models appropriate behaviors and techniques to establish a program that promotes positive child, youth, staff, and parent interactions.
Plans field trips to fitness and health events.
Assists in training coaches using the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) guidelines.
Shares expertise in the operation of age-appropriate exercises and skills development for children and youth.
Helps inspect facilities/programs to ensure compliance with applicable standards and makes recommendations for improvements.
Other duties as assigned.

Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-15j, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation is required.
Must complete a health assessment including all required immunizations.
Must possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.
Must obtain/maintain certification in CPR/First Aid.
Must currently possess or have the ability to obtain (within six months of employment) a fitness certification from a nationally recognized organization (i.e. National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), etc.
1.A bachelor's degree or higher in exercise physiology, exercise Science, kinesiology, physical education, or other fitness-related disciplines OR all of the following equivalent in scope and complexity to the next lower grade level.
2.Experience in the application of fitness principles, concepts, and techniques gained through the delivery of a comprehensive group fitness program.
3.Experience or education demonstrating the knowledge of basic health and nutrition concepts.
4.Experience training coaches or other professionals (i.e. teachers, caregivers, fitness instructors) in the proper application of sports or fitness techniques.
Highly qualifying: In addition to the above, highly qualified candidates will possess experience in the planning, evaluation, or delivery of a fitness program or curriculum specifically for children or youth; or at least 12 semester hours in college coursework directly related to children or youth (i.e. PE for children, motor skills development, childhood development, early/elementary/secondary, education, health/nutrition for children, child/adolescent psychology, etc,).
