The Fitness Equipment Technician will primarily provide general and preventive maintenance for cardio and weight equipment in all branches.
Serve as a role model to members and YMCA staff. Live the mission, vision, and values of the YMCA movement.
Perform association-wide repair and preventative maintenance for all cardio/weight equipment.
Must be able to diagnose issues related to cardio/weight equipment and re-assemble machines back into working order.
Perform and/or assist in general plumbing repairs, minor electrical repairs and basic carpentry as needed.
Participate in the association risk management program that creates a safe environment for our members and staff and is cost-effective for the association.
Assist with preventative maintenance and other projects as needed.
Complete records and reports as required in an efficient and timely manner.
Participate in and solicit others to participate in necessary YMCA financial development efforts, specifically the Annual Campaign.
Maintain certifications listed under Certificates and Other Requirements.
Adherence to all policies and procedures of Scott County Family Y.
Understand and follow all safety rules and regulations including knowledge of emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment.
Regular and timely adherence to respective schedule/meetings.
All other duties as assigned by the Head Maintenance Director.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1.High School Diploma or equivalent.
2.No experience necessary, we will train. Mechanical knowledge required.
3.Ability to complete multiple projects.
CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Must be able to pass background check including MVR.
2.Ability to drive and maintain current license.
3.Completion of all safety and sanitation training.
The Y will pay for training required to service cardio and weight equipment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must have the ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but is not limited to, the following activities: climb, bend, stoop, kneel, reach with hands and arms, twist, lie on stomach and/or back, sit, stand for an extended period of time, walk, shovel/plow snow, mow grounds, lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds, possess finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity. Must be able to properly set up, climb and stand on ladders, scaffolding and platforms. Able to work with chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in all forms. Must have the have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions and posses strong communication skills. Able to respond to critical incidents and emergency situations in a quick, efficient manner.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment can vary from quiet to very loud depending upon the tasks begin performed. The work is performed both indoors and out, and may require travel to various locations. While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
